A supervillain could just watch all the hacksmith videos, then after robbing one successful Bank. They can have an army of powerlifters, full set of superpowers, minions with a Halo helmet, and a railgun. Hacksmith could explain how a inventor class villain could even be powerful.

@@abizarreyoutuber6317 There gear is cool, but let's be honest, non of it is really weapons grade or really practical in actual combat. (Due in large part to legal restrictions I believe). A couple of thieves using actual weapons, like guns, would be more effective. Sure the lightsaber would be deadly but you'd have to get close enough to use it. Some of the other things they make could be deadly as well, but not nearly as effective as a firearm.

@@GryphStone Think of the Predator targeting laser like a mouse pointer. It was just using the reticle to select potential targets for the shoulder cannon to destroy. That's why you'd always see the triangular bounding shape appear over the target's head after it was selected. The bounding shape was continually tracked, even when the targeting laser wasn't fixed on it. A similar control mechanism could be created for a real life Predator shoulder cannon.

This doesn't sound that far fetched, he was using a hand control to fire the lasers when at full power, they could use a two trigger control like a fighter jet. Cep the top button is held down whenever eye tracking is wanted, when released it switches to an IMU to cancel out slight body movements, and the pistol trigger switches betwen the low power aiming beam and the full power destruct-o-beam when pulled, and back to aiming eyesafe mode when released..

What's a good build. A portable mini zombie furnace. That's a mini furnace that can be carried on the run against zombies. When you in the clear in a safe spot. You can make some weapons from metal scraps you find in your location. That means you would have to properly have to wire it up. To be be used with a powerbank or any type of solar panel.(SOLAR BATTERY BANK.) Maybe a solar vest to connect with the electric. Furnace. So when u on the run. The panels charge by sun and u can make weapons when in the clear. BTW. IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIT IN A SMALL BAG/POUNCH/ PURSE/CAMERA BAGS. Whatever you want to call it. Needs to be light to carry. You can even try physical energy. Electricity boots powerbank that charges everytime you run/ move.

This was brilliant! But really did bother me that the 2 lasers didn't converge to a single point. Im not an engineer or anything but this is my suggestion. Have the specs track only 1 eye, and have a single laser shoot the target. A separate camera can locate the 1st laser, and 2nd laser can be programmed to shoot it. Hope thats possible, would love to see it. Also if it is possible, can hook up any number of additional lasers to converge in on the primary laser. Thus beating superman! 😲

Interesting math behind eye tracking too. In principle, the two rays traced by the center of your pupils perpendicular to the back to your fovea should intersect at the 3-D location where your eyes are focused. From there with a calibrated cameras, you can pretty easily map this to a location relative to the camera. I’m curious if a monocular eye tracking approach has been attempted, as you can search for key points in an image along a line, to estimate the actual object that an individual is looking at. For that use case there is no IMU required. The IMU becomes far more useful when discussing VR and AR applications where the orientation of the cameras matter

I really want to see you guys make a lasgun and lascanon from wh40k. Since they're so nonstandard between worlds, you could create something truly unique and just awesome. And probably every bit as powerful as the ones in lore are. I'm just not sure if it would be compliant with laws. Still be awesome to see.
@cuttlefish6132

it wouldnt be as powerful as in 40K, Lasguns could blow holes in concrete. But i would love seeing a lasgun made by these guys anyway lmao
@michellewilt4479
@michellewilt4479 2 жыл бұрын
@@cuttlefish6132 I assume that they could find a way to make them as powerful as lasguns, but yeah, I'm not sure if it's entirely legal. I've kind of got an idea on how to do it, too, but my laser knowledge is... Lacking and may be very (dangerously) wrong. Lasguns are very powerful, generally on par or even more powerful than a 50 BMG today. It's just a testament to the enemies they're used against that they get called "flashlights"... But you can't deny it would be awesome to see the whole team all dressed as Cadian troopers welding Cadian pattern lasguns and shouting "Cadia stands!" As they mow down row upon row of manequins dressed as chaos cultists.

That was pretty awesome, adequate eye tracking, and the amount of code it took lol. Good job Charles on that front. I wonder what other things eye tracking can be useful for. The Scan Visor from the Metroid Prime games come to mind, perhaps you can even add it to your thermal imaging visors to focus on one point so you can estimate its temperature directly. Question about the tracking: I notice that both lasers looked to be about the same distance from each other when on the wall throughout testing. Do the glasses themselves only scan the motion of one eye rather than both, allowing for the lasers to move per-eye, or is that related to the software used in making the device? Great video as usual, and awesome job to the team that worked on it!
@theHacksmith
@theHacksmith 2 жыл бұрын
"Hi! Thanks for the good question. The glasses scan both eyes and calculate your gaze position in 3D-space (X, Y, Z), but the depth is not particularly accurate beyond a couple metres. So we used, where possible, the LiDAR to correct for the parallax between the lasers. The glasses are able to produce separate data streams for each eye, but as an azimuth and elevation instead of 3D-point. This is still a beta feature, though AdHawk is working to improve it and add it to the API. For the final tests, we had issues with the LiDAR providing spurious readings because James' hair kept getting in the way, so it was turned off, leaving us with lackluster convergence of the lasers. In bench tests, the two lasers would often land within millimetres of one another with LiDAR assistance, but that was not an option - they were fixed to a convergence distance of 5.0m for most of the test you see in the video." - Charles

@theHacksmith
@theHacksmith 2 жыл бұрын
We did use it to direct the angle of the lasers automatically! That was what it was for -- the cardboard example doesnt work because the lidar would see the first cardboard, and only focus on it, then when the lasers go through, they would cross paths and diverge, that's why we only used one laser =)
