Knock the snow out of the tracks when you park. If it melts a little and freezes again you could end up with an ice block that will keep you stuck or break things.

I remember watching the video when they made these. I thought there was no way in heck that these would work and that they were wasting their time. Obviously it is Crow eating time. Time will tell if they last the season or not, but it looks likes great job so far. Kudos to you two. Every time I think there is no way they can do it, they pull the rabbit out of the hat. Love, passion, necessity and ambition all in one package. Thanks for the great content.

Cool project. I was sponsored by mattracks on a prototype setup that is now available to the general public. I want to share a couple of key pieces of information that might help you improve upon this design. The tracks will work great until about 2-3 feet of snow. You will sink down quite a bit and since it does not appear you have anti turnover brackets installed bad things can happen. You can fix this with some fabricated anti turnover brackets mounted to the vehicle frame and the track frame. Another thing to keep in mind is that snowmobile parts are not rated for full sized vehicles and have a high failure rate (bearings, bogies). This happens often at higher speeds as the bogies and bearings are under the most stress. One more thing, if you get ice that covers the tracks be careful as the sprockets can rip the drive bars right out of the tracks themselves if the vehicle is frozen to the ground. Solid framed track systems are great on soft surfaces only. Taking them over rocky terrain or offroad will destroy them almost immediately... Thanks for sharing...

I thought I would offer a suggestion before even finishing the video. I would consider putting up some reflective markers alongside you road. That would allow you to make sure that you can stay in the middle of your road during the night time in case of an emergency. Also, throw a cheap tarp over the Jeep to make it easier to remove the snow from it before you drive it, same thing goes for the excavator or anything else you might need to move around the property that is stored outside during a snow storm. Other than those simple suggestions, Great Job!

As someone that used to work in a machine shop - the engineering that went into those tracks is absolutely amazing! So - couple Q's: - Where does Amazon deliver!? Do you have to go into town? - Do you keep the Jeep in low range the whole time? You guys are the best!
@AmbitionStrikes
@AmbitionStrikes 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob, thanks so much for the compliments! We have a parcel box at the local pack and ship store in town, they receive our Amazon shipments and hold them for us. We keep the Jeep in high range. The axles already have lower than stock ring and pinions in them (4.56:1) so that combined with effectively a 17" tire (drive wheel) instead of a 35" tire means that it is already geared really really low. E.G. 30mph on the speedo is 15mph in reality. It probably has a top speed of 40 mph with the tracks on.

NICE TRACKS! two things to worry about with tracks, hard on the power steering unless assisted or ad an extra cooler, and B i would add a limiting strap/chain/shock back to the frame to avoid the track flipping over while driving higher speeds.

When you guys get set for next winter, if you put true Winter tires on a 4x4, that vehicle will have traction that will go almost anywhere. We put Bridgestone Blizzak tires on our Yukon and it outperformed our 4x4 Suburban with studded All Terrain heavy lug tires when we needed to get up our steep snow covered driveway to our cabin by Brundage Mtn, McCall. We don't go anywhere in Idaho winters without our Blizzak tires. Nokian Hakkapelitta 9 are also known for deep and icy snow traction.

That’s really impressive and looked like a lot of fun there on fresh dry snow. I have a feeling that you may need to pitch the front rollers up to curv the tracks up at the front to cope well with deep heavy snow, or on snow with a breakable crust. This in order to constantly pitch the tracks up to the surface. It would also be safer over under-snow obstacles - just a thought. Making the front rollers adjustable might not be so difficult - not for you guys anyway! Great stuff, really enjoyed that win.

Courtney, you mention onion and garlic aversion. I have Atrial Fibrillation, a dicky heartbeat, and, oddly, onion doesn't affect it, which is strange because think the two are in the same family. Like leeks, I'm OK with them Garlic, on the other hand, is terrible. My heartbeat goes crazy, I get hot, nauseous, dizzy, clammy - and those are only the good points!! Just kidding. I've had a few blue light rides after unknowingly eaten garlic. What have I found to put some taste back into my foods? Honestly, nothing so I'm sorry that I can't give you any good ideas but thought I'd tell you nonetheless. If you do get any workable ideas, will you let me know, please?? That was very cool!!! Incredible build and first test! Good turn radius too. Can't wait to see in some deeper snow. Looks like it just floats on top with those big profile tracks. Impressive!!! And for sure fun looking!

Hi guys, having never watched the conversion of the Jeep I decided to get some extra viewing in today. I'm impressed by this conversion and do enjoy Riley's reaction when things actually work the way he pictured it in his mind.

Has to be the best feeling, you make or build something yourself and it functions as planned. .... Nice
