We have 2 weeks to build the box for our expedition camper. Can we do it??
In this video, Heather and Dana work 12 hour days to get a composite box installed on our Mitsubishi Fuso FG140 chassis. We also also announce some big news- we're moving in!
Products used in this build:
Overlander Global: overlander.global/
Bathroom Fan: amzn.to/3v8MTFr
Winch for Spare Tire: amzn.to/3IAGSnY
Ryobi Caulk Gun: amzn.to/4aaqQNp
Pioneer AC Unit: amzn.to/3TzxhEk
SOK Batteries: www.us.sokbattery.com/?ref=Oi...
Handheld footage from DJI Pocket 2: amzn.to/3IIeAry
Arctic Tern: ternoverland.com/
FYI: We may receive some compensation if you purchase using the above product links. We only recommend products that we use and enjoy!

@Hughes, 2003, after a devastating diagnosis, we built our ExpeditionVehicle on a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck. Cummins 8.3 mechanical (zero computers), Allison 3060 automatic. Within a week -- while selling everything -- we completed our conversion and hit the road from Oregon with the vague goal of 'south'. . Twenty-four months twenty-four thousand miles around South America. Alaska, Panama, all over North and Central America. Summers up rough logger tracks to remote mountain lakes. Winters on isolated Baja beaches. Over two decades full-time live-aboard. And none of our caravan chums have factory RecreateVehicles.

I've spend hour, weeks and month planning the passthrough. Then came to the understanding the main use case voids the complex way it is built. For me the main use case is emergency climbing into the cab and driving away. I've heard some other owners complain about the connection allows a noisy travel that does not have to be. So I decide now since the rear of the cab and the habitat box is 2-3 inches apart, I would not need a bridge for that space, rather just install a correctly built door in each the rear of the cab, as well as the habitat wall. Allow the habitat door opens from inside the habitat, then faced with a tambour door in the rear of the cab can be opened from that view when the habitat door is open.
@HD.Adventuring
@HD.Adventuring 3 ай бұрын
That's a super good idea. If I were doing it again, I am not even sure if I would install a passthrough!

Thanks. We’re away from the truck right now, but essentially we built the bike tray, put the bikes on, and then measured it. The height is just an inch above the highest point on the bike.

Ok just started the video, my first dumb question, did you consider using a used commercial reefer box rather than build from the frame rails up yourself? Just seems it would be easier to use a commercial structure as the starting point???
@HD.Adventuring
@HD.Adventuring 2 ай бұрын
Lots of reasons. Weight, customizability, durability for off road. Reefer boxes are cool, but this is exactly what we wanted.
@dannydivine7699

@HD.Adventuring
@HD.Adventuring 3 ай бұрын
He’s a legend!! We used a Pioneer AC like this one: amzn.to/3Vl3cK0 and our 1200 watts of solar do a good enough job at powering it for a few hours a day when the sun is out! Allan built the stairs- they slide out and then fold down. For glue we used Sikaflex
