Bdub's terracotta operation is so slow. I don't know who convinced him that the math scaled the more you made, the more efficient it becomes. Which I'm sure IS true to an extent. The maffs he used to conclude his farms were almost as efficient as just mining them seem incredibly flawed. Luckily, that madness is one of Bdub's most likeable traits.

@@nerdjournal the idea is not having to wait for all the mud to dry. If you place enough mud that by the time you are done the first "batch" is dried into clay, it make sense (as long as placing the mud takes less than travelling to the mesa biome). Best case scenario, it will be similar rate, that's all. In any case he is not selling much, so it's fine

I've been meaning to ask this for a while this season. But did Hermitcraft upgrade to some crazy server this year or did a game update just improve performance a ton. You are all so much closer together than usual and it feels like there are more hermits using hopper chains, custom models in item frames, and statues then ever before, but somehow the server doesn't seem to be struggling.

@@bryansiler9621 In the past composters were the cheapest and easiest way to keep all the hoppers in a chain from constantly checking the block above them to see if there were any items for the hopper to pick up, preventing lag. While not necessary you could autocraft even more things with bricks and terracota, bricks can be used for flower pots and decorated pots, wich could be useful to have automated since you are using them a bit on redstone, and for terracota you could have them be automatically dyed on all colors and even smelted to have the glazed one, or maybe make a machine where you could select a color and it would dye a full shulker box of material to that color, wich could be useful since the server has the universal dye datapack

You could also automate the creation of flower pots and blank decorated pots with this farm. The latter being a very useful item in a number of ways. What effect did the composters on top of every hopper in the chain provide?
@kekchanbiggestfan
@kekchanbiggestfan 23 күн бұрын
@@bryansiler9621 Hoppers constantly search the space over them for item entities and if it finds any, they get put in the hopper. That’s useful if you want the hopper to pick up items, but it’s computationally expensive for the game to do. With many hoppers, like in a long chain, it can cause lag. If you put a block with an inventory (like a chest) on top of the hopper, it stops looking for item entities and just looks for items in that block’s inventory. But in the case of a chest it would still need to search almost 30 item slots. The composter is the block with the least item slots, it only has one slot for bone meal, so putting them on top of hoppers will reduce lag as much as possible. And like I said, in 1.21 you can just use a regular block instead and it will stop looking for items entirely, useful for those long hopper chains.

the temple base is reminding me of some neat elements of Etho's Man Cave base. the interconnection between passageways that come up naturally as the base expands and changes, and the well-integrated functionality squeezed all throughout the base. imo, i think this is a really engaging building style to watch along with, as it's very adaptable to both the needs of the player and the desires of the empty space. and of course all the automation at log lands is super cool to see too, for us redstone nerds lol. combining all those sub-components to achieve a greater end-result is essentially what automation is about been having fun watching along so far this season, and looking forward to the build in the next episode. thanks, X!
