Marital abuse or any other form of DV is a criminal offense and a crime against humanity. The law requires that it’s reported so there’ll be some type of discipline, accountability, and responsibility toward a healthier society. So, when a witness convinces or manipulates the victim into shutting up instead of speaking up just to cover up for the perpetrator, it means: You’ve chosen to neglect that part of the law… You’re undermining perpetrators opportunity to learn, make necessary changes and grow… Most importantly, you’re disregarding the pains and suffering of the victim… You’re putting his or her life at risk and jeopardizing the future of children in the relationship… So, my question is this: are you proud of yourself for doing that?
On the other hand, wouldn’t feel better if you help the system adequately hold offenders accountable to complete a required batterer intervention program. So, those that are serious can turn new leaves and contribute positively to society?
By reporting suspected domestic violence where required, and providing victims with the resources they need, we can help protect our neighbors and their families from this devastating reality.
