I remember my son’s first word. I was putting him in his crib for the night when he was about 11 months. I always put him down telling him what a wonderful boy he was. I had just put him down and started pulling his blanket over him, when he suddenly looked at me with that smile and said, “Daaaaddy!” I opened my mouth, gasping and called to my wife, then ran to get the tape recorder as he kept saying “Daaaaadyyy!” He’s now about to turn 28 with a wonderful girlfriend a job where they love him because he is brilliant and amazing and that time is still imprinted in my mind. One of the best and most exciting memories of my life. Right up there with when the nurse first laid his little newborn body in my arms as a gift. His name is Jonathan which means “given of God.” And that he is! You will have few experiences that you will treasure in this life like this one!

Just this morning I was thinking about how special it is when a child's mother is the ONLY ONE who can understand their child's baby talk! My grandson's mother would repeat every single word he said just so others could understand him. She did it in the most loving and caring way and continued until he was around 5 or 6 years old. He was missing his front teeth and that's what made it hard for him to enunciate his words. Today he's thriving! ❤
