I absolutely love the detail at 5:10 when Rambo sees the fear in Sarah’s eyes and the subtitles drop. He’s made his decision and no longer cares what the pirates are saying. Underrated action film this one.

The crew have noble intentions, helping the unfortunate, but they didn’t have to travel across the world to do that. There were poor, sick, and starving people in their own cities, probably not even an hour away. @@steinfranken1108 I liked it because I speak a little Burmese (my wife is from Burma/Myanmar and I have visited the country four times), and it was a novelty to hear a major American action movie star speak it, not to mention hear Burmese vulgar slang spoken on an American big screen. The movie was also interesting because I had spent the night in a rustic Karen hill-tribe village roughly midway between Chiang Mai and the Burma/Myanmar border during a two-day trek in northern Thailand.

@@NightRunner417 I definitely wouldn’t travel there now as things have totally gone downhill since the 2021 military coup, with artillery and air strikes used against rebel troops and ethnic minority villages, and anti junta protesters. Burma was literally and figuratively ‘a trip’ during my first two visits there (March 2000, December 2001) to visit my in-laws in Yangon, which was the seat of government power prior to relocating the capital up-country to the area around Pyinmanah and calling the new capital Naypyidaw (‘Abode of Kings’). After visiting Singapore, that was my first exposure to ‘developing SE Asia’, with armed soldiers, paramilitary and police on the streets, and rolling roadblocks for the passage of armed convoys accompanying the tinted window Mercedes carrying military Generals and visiting VIP’s, with the local copies of the H&K G3’s, HK-33’s and Uzi’s, with a lot of old M16A1’s, M1 carbines, and even old Italian TZ-45 SMG’s (and in my 2006 & 2009 trips, local copies of the AK-47, w/ grenade launcher attached at a bridge military checkpoint across Pazoon Daung Creek in East Yangon). Despite the repression and the plainclothes military intelligence officers on the street, I loved the vibe of the place (similar to Siem Reap, Cambodia which I visited in 2009) and the generosity of the Burmese people, especially up in the rural areas around the temple ruins of Bagan and Inle Lake in eastern Shan State. I’d love to go back someday if things ever stabilize and get back to a ‘corrupt normal’.

In Last Blood Rambo says to Gabriella that he almost lost his faith in humanity and that he was a very lost man. He went off to join the military at the age of 17 and all he ever knew after was just the brutality of war. Even after coming back he was hunted and he saw how black a man's heart can be. Maybe all these atrocities are unleashed by men and he hated that. Women and children are always pure and he could see the innocence and pure intention in her eyes. There's a difference in the approach between Sarah and Michael to Rambo. She considers him and treats him well which is all he ever wanted. At the end of the movie I saw the way he looked at Sarah hugging Michael and I don't think he was in love with her but rather it reminded him that there's no one to care for him like that. He never knew what love is...never had a family of his own. That's what he may have realised that time. And he went home at the end of the movie hoping for a peaceful life. We can see how happy is Rambo when Gabriella came to his life. All he ever wanted was someone to love him, someone to wait for him back home, someone to live for. But fate was cruel and I hate how he ended up alone again. He deserved better.
