Major props to all the voice actors, especially Eren's, Mikasa's, and Hange's. The pain in their voices made me cry pretty damn hard. The direction in this episode was also amazing. No intro and no music until the end. Just voice acting and sound effects. Even felt pretty bad for Bertoldt, whom I never thought I could feel sorry for after the hundred of thousands he killed. This whole episode was just pain lol :(

No opening, there's no OST and just silence all throughout up until the injection was given, and then it all ends with "Sayonara, world" in the ending. They really did a fantastic job conveying the atmosphere of the aftermath! Loved Eren's dedication to Armin as well! In his last moments, Armin entrusted everything to Eren and Eren in turn, fought for Armin until the very end. The voice-acting was also fantastic! Kaji (Eren) and Yui (Mikasa) really gave it their all, especially Yui. The way she portrayed Mikasa this episode did not disappoint. Her crying out as she was held back by Hange was just heartbreaking. Loved how it came full circle in a way with what Kenny said when it came to Levi picking Armin or Erwin. The way I saw it, Armin had a real dream and aspirations whereas Erwin was more driven by an obsession. Armin's ambitions surpassed Erwin's and was more long-term compared to what Erwin really wanted. That and Levi finally freed Erwin from his sense of responsibilities for those mountain of corpses he was hallucinating. Kenny basically alluded to the fact that death frees people from the hell of spending the rest of their lives being a slave to something. Bringing back Erwin would've brought him back to hell, and he really deserves to rest. Overall, it was really nice to see Kenny having a lasting effect on Levi here. Bertholdt's death screams was pretty sad and haunting for me. The way he cried out for his friends before realizing what was happening by how they were all staring back in horror and sadness, and then how he started calling out for Annie and Reiner...Just ouch. Sayonara Erwin, Bertholdt, Moblit, Marlo, all the scouts, and Hange's left eye...

Honestly tho the voice actors are phenomenal. Like .. you can feel the emotion. This episode was incredibly intense and so well done. Gosh I love this anime so much ALSO Rest in peace Erwin♡ Marlo, all the soldiers and Bertholdt (his death was quite sad not gonna lie) 😩

I like armin bu Erwin is on another level man just the charismatic character leadership but it is time to let him rest rip commander 💔

Must have been really hard on Levi too. Other than Hange, Erwin was probably the last of his "old friends" from when he joined the survey corps. I like how Levi's response to Erwin's passing was a simple "oh." with a forlorn look on his face - it was a perfect expression of grief in line with Levi's personality.

It was subtle, but the question Erwin asked was the question that got his father killed. The anime never told you what the question was until that moment. That question alone set Erwin on the path to take extreme risk and sacrifice so many men and women in the Survey Corps. For the sake of finding the truth, he became a devil. Perfect set-up for the basement episode.

I just wanna say: Goodbye Erwin,have a good dream. Welcome back,Armin.

Erwin's bravery, couragness and leadership skills without him along the way, all survey cops would be dead and levi had long time given up. R.I.P Commander Erwin

I cried throughout the whole episode XD I already knew what was going to happen, but Mikasa's voice actor broke the shit out of me when she started screaming/crying, when Hange was holding her XD All the voice actor's did amazing here, omg. Also: RIP Moblit, my favorite secondary character ;-;

What an amazing episode! and just to clarify on why levi ended up choosing armin in the end the whole point of the flashback of Kenny was to emphasize what he taught Levi about human nature. Everyone is "drunk" on something (their dream). When they lose that thing to be drunk on, they're not the same person. Levi recognized that Erwin's dream was limited (going to the basement) and that he wouldnt be the same after they got there. Armin's dream is one that is never ending. Armin wanted to see the outside world. The ocean, the desert, volcanoes, the arctic. Levi knew that Erwin would have a very limited time of usefulness even if he was revived. Levi revived Armin because he saw the potential.

I literally do not understand why so many people think Erwin raised his hand to mean "no i don't want the injection" when they clearly flash to a classroom scene and he's muttering things like he's asking a question to a teacher. He's just in a fever dream, his last thoughts before his death, being back in the classroom full of curiosity at his father's side.

Though he had it coming, I still felt really bad for Bertholdt dying as brutally and pitifully as he did. That was the first time he probably experienced true fear.

I was not ready for this episode even despite being a manga reader. The voice acting, the direction, the emotion. It was just unbelievable. This episode broke me. Especially the part when Erwin said, "Levi, thank you." That's all he needed to hear. When Mikasa started crying and Hange reflecting on how she wanted to also save others.. hundreds of them. I was in tears. Attack on Titan, you have outdid yourselves...........

What. an. episode! No background music, no op. This episode was dialed up to 11 out 10 on the seriousness meter. The tension between characters was so well done. To quote Sam from iCarly: "You can feel the tension in the air...". Amazing! I didn't think they'd be able to stretch the decision between Armin or Erwin into 22 minutes but they did! And best of all....the next episode! I can't wait a week! It's literally titled "The Basement". No shits or giggles. Just straight to the part we've waited YEARS for!

I had it spoiled but this episode was still great👌
