I think times are changing where the youth is focus on the bag. And these athletes are starting to see themselves as a brand. For example alot of these young athletes creating they own brands. and they want to wear they own brand, clothes, accessories, etc. so the right young athletes going to take sketchers check and make it pop.

Also on the shoe deal topic, MJs biggest reason for going to Nike wasn’t the upfront money or being the face of a brand, it was the royalties deal they were able to negotiate into it. I had a couple older friends on my street (I was like 9, they were maybe 12-13) and they got me in to sports cards, mostly bball. So I saw how insane the LBJ hype was, and that’s basically when they started collecting too. Trying to get LBJ rookie cards and stuff. So my second team has always been whatever team LBJ is on since I was a little kid. It also helped that the first year I really got in to it, the Pistons won the chip. So I root for LeBron teams unless they’re playing the Pistons…and he’s actually made me more $ than any other athlete in my life by like 20x anyone else. Usually betting on his teams, but a couple times betting against them. I made a ton of bread in the year he won his first chip in MIA. I had a rich friend who was a CHI fan, and we made a ton of bets before the playoffs. I believe MIA was around 2-1 or a little over that to win it all, and CHI was a little over 3-1. Maybe 3.2-1 vs 2.2-1 or whatever. I don’t remember all of them and exactly how much, but they were like: MIA vs CHI whoever makes it further in the playoffs for around 2500 vs his 1500 MIA vs CHI to win the East, one of them must win it or its void, around 2500 to his 1500 I laid like 6K to his 2.5K for CHI to make the Finals He laid me around 6K to my 3.5K for MIA to make the Finals Then the last two bets were to win it all. I laid prolly 6K to his 2K or something for CHI to win it all. And he did around 5K to my 2.5K for MIA to win the Finals. I remember we were both playing a poker tourney together in FL when D Rose got hurt and it was such a weird feeling. I now knew that I was gonna win a bunch of money bc CHI couldn’t make the Finals or win them, but it was horrific to see Rose suffer an obvious devastating injury. I remember the look on his face and I felt really bad for him, he was a huge CHI/Rose fan. The $ didn’t mean anything to him but ya just a bizarre situation. Especially bc most of the bets were void unless one of the two teams made it. So for the finals bets, one of them had to win it or both voided, for win the East one had to do it or voided, etc. So once CHI was out of it, I couldn’t lose. I could only win. I kinda just stared at the TV for a few mins and was folding my hands not rly looking at my cards bc it was so insane. Def a crazy experience, it was cool Rose ended up having a career again and even ended up in DET for a little. Those numbers are rough estimates, I know I ended up winning like 10-15K and won every single bet. That was a ton of $ to me at the time too, I mean it still is but I was young. I ended up betting even more on MIA to beat OKC in the Finals…I couldn’t believe they were underdogs. They were like +130 or +140 to win the title and I put another couple g’s on it. Absolutely crazy and I’ve never bet that big again lol. Then when LAL got Russ, I told two of my buddies to bet against LAL for like the first 10 games or so bc the lines would be inflated. I knew Russ experiment would be awful. I think we went 8-2 or 9-1, but a couple were MLs with promos so ended up winning around 10 units. Nothing huge, I was betting 100 or 2 a game. The only non LeBron big hit I’ve had was betting KAT to win the 3P Contest at like 14/1 or whatever insane odds it was. Might’ve been worse. I remember CJ McCollum was the second worst odds, KAT like 14/1 and CJ maybe 12/1 11/1 idk. I bet 200 on KAT to win it, and also bet KAT vs CJ R1 score at around +150 so I won around 3K. Crazy AF lol, now I usually don’t bet more than 50 or 100 bc I’m an old man. Not bragging at all, serious irresponsible wagers back in those days when I was barely 18 or w/e. Just saying how he’s always won me so much $ AND got me in to ball…so until he retires my second team is whatever team he’s on 😂
