I agree that you need to make the boxes like Ant and Rox have made. My parents raised rabbits in NW Oklahoma for yrs, that type of box kept the momma from dragging the babies out after nursing. The babies sometimes would hold on to the nipples 😢 and be drug out onto the wire and die. Good luck with the rabbits!

We found that using an electric dog water bowls worked perfectly for our chickens when we lived in the frigid north, and the water never froze. As long as you have a long enough extension cord. :)

Would you give birth on a wire mesh . They are in comfortable burrows normally. Pour bunnies they maybe not frozen but she needs to nest up in hay or something

You need to put in a lot more straw with that doe. Buns are born with no hair, they need it to keep warm. Mom bun does not stay in the box with little ones.

Hey Mel, I think the using the plastic tote for her burrow will work fine but you may want to have an inch or so high lip at the bottom of the opening so then every time she goes out into her hutch she isn’t dragging the straw out with her. It may also help contain the babies as they start moving around so they don’t accidentally end up outside of the nest.
