I heard that the bigger the torii gate, the bigger the donation they gave. Those written in Kanji are mostly names of the companies who made the donations. 😊

@@ChenoandAlex I have a question about the train departure times? When I go to Kyoto the first thing I’m going do is go to Bamboo Forest. This is what I wrote on my itinerary sheet. From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-in or Sagano lines (included in your JR Pass) to Saga-Arashiyama Station. The train ride lasts approximately 20 minutes. Are the train departure time the same everyday or are the changing? So for example if I wanted to go to Bamboo forest again the next day or a week later will the departure time be the same?
@ChenoandAlex

@@JA_0143 I’m not entirely sure but I know there would be a train every 10-30mins. You can use google maps as it’s very detailed :) - c

the wordings on the red tori gates are actually names of people/organisations/companies/government bodies who have made a significant donation or offering to the shrine and thus their names are left on the gates as remembrance and gratitude.

Hi Peter, we actually landed in Narita airport which was about 1hr express train to Tokyo. We stayed in Tokyo for about 3 full days and head to Kyoto for 3 full days (1 day we spent to go to Osaka which was only 30 mins bullet train ride away!) and then last stop was Fuji Kawaguchiko for about 2 days ☺️ We definitely fast traveled our time in Japan, but it was amazing to see so many places in a short amount of time! -A
