S1:E1 We finally receive in our inventory the "missing link" to Season 1 Episode 8. The 1969 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750! This particualr car is a Euro spec, still equipped with the dual side draft Webber Carbs, vs the american spec cars that introduced for the 1st time the SPICA mechanical fuel injected system.
We bought this car from a local lead. It's been in the same family since 1970. Besides being a straight forward car, the 1st thing we noticed during inspection was the genuine Campagnolo magnesium GTA wheels (including the spare tire! ). The GTA was an aluminum bodied homologated version of the GTV. According to the seller these are the wheels they bought the car with, which to us is stunning they made it this long being so fragile!
The 68-69 GTV's are in a sense the "happy middle" GTV's, because ascetically they still sport the small taillights (more favorable), but now features the sportier quad headlights up front. Mechanically the car favors as well. The engine for the 68-69 years were upgraded from a 1600 to a 1750. The late model GTV's did have a 2000 motor, but some still prefer the rev happy 1750. Additionally for 68-69 the buckets are the highly sought after "Flying Buttress".
This car is a blast and we congratulate the previous ownership for keeping this beauty on the road for 49 years! It's a great driver quality car and it will be available and priced accordingly.
