In 1983 Mtv refused to air Michael Jackson's video "billie jean' because he was black. The backlash was so enormous even cbs records threatened to jerk all cbs record label artists off mtv. The ' Thriller ' album was selling over 1 million copies a week. In the 1980s Michael Jackson had become so popular the music industry had to change because michael was sweeping tens of millions of white people into his musical tent. Never before had the world seen a black man cause so much hysteria and stack stadiums like sardines with millions of caucasians. Same thing happened in Asia and Europe. Even in Russia concert tickets sold out within minutes. Michael Jackson no doubt singlehandedly paved the way for future african american artists in the music industry.

The lady that was his background singer he introduced after that performance is Siedah Garrett, she also wrote Man in the mirror. Micheal was a global entertainer, he couldn't go anywhere in the world without someone knowing who he was. He is truly missed. He has mentored some of the new generation who continue to pass his legacy on, Ne-Yo, Usher and Chris Brown. He was truly loved. @Narly waves You should look at the crowds who were at Michael's concerts. The people would be whipped into a frenzy. Also crying. People can and do faint from extreme excitement. He's a person but he evoked that kind of extreme adoration from a lot of people.

I was raised in the middle east and am friends and worked for the royal families who were all obsessed with mj I have had the pleasure of meeting him on many occasions. Nice man but his soft speaking voice always shocked me as he was so soft spoken with such a powerful singing voice. Great performer who would do private shows for the royal families which I was privy too. Best memories of my life.

I cannot believe this is only the 2nd live concert video you've ever viewed of the greatest singer/performer/writer/dancer/producer/artist you'll ever see in our lifetime. Some of the singers and some of the music nowadays are nothing compared to Michael Jackson. He will be forever a legend like the Beatles or Elvis or BBKing or Nat King Cole, that's why his concerts were attended by fans who were overcome with such emotions, you see how they were! His singing and dance moves are copied by so many, he was such an influence. His music will live on.........

Michael Jackson sacrificed his childhood to give us our childhoods. As a big fan, I can say that he gave us unconditional love through his perfect performances. His humility on stage cannot be compared today. I saw him in 1988 at 8 years old in Maryland. The Bad Tour. My first concert, I will never forget that musical high for the rest of my life. In person is different than these videos. My family had floor seats. 10th row. When the lights went out, everyone stood on top of the chairs all ages!! People in the stands were jumping the entire time!! Old and young people!! Anticipating seeing him was building up. He knew this. He felt the energy!! That’s why he performed so well. He felt the positive love & energy. He appeared on stage with his dancers like statues for a few minutes and we went crazy because we wanted to hear the beat drop lol!! The place went ballistic. Security was trying to get everyone back on the floor from standing on the chairs, and this was in the US!!! People will never understand that he would literally have everyone in the arena under a trance for the entire show. My mom camped out overnight for those tickets with her co workers in front of a department store that is now Macy’s waiting for it to open at 8am outside of the mall. This was before internet lol:) But that’s how tickets were bought in the 1980s, 90s and early 2000s. Any questions I will gladly discuss. I saw him again in DC at 21 years old and he was performing as Headliner for a 911 event in DC in RFK Stadium. He had The same impact on that audience and he just only performed Man in the Mirror. He never lost that special “it factor” than cannot be manufactured, he was born with that gift to make people of all ages feel loved and accepted through positive music. Rest in Power MJ✌️

He was just so talented as a eong writer and performer. It was easy for him although he didn't know it. to He just took us all into his world and we were also happy to be in it. I can remember my bedroom as a girl even an older a teenager covered in Michael Jackson, my Jean jacket covered in patches and buttons, magazines, jewelry, everything was Michael Jackson. I still adore everything Michael Jackson, this song in particular always gripped my heart and to this day still does and I am saddened, so sad that he left this world so soon. Just keep enjoying and sharing his music, that's love. P.s., he had a CHOIR
