I agree with Zack's take on the difference between content creators who are elite at the game and those who are not elite. People watch gaming videos for entertainment. Watching someone be insanely good is entertaining. However, if you are not elite at the game you need to make up for it. A common way of that is using commentary to keep people interested.

I enjoy the unedited content. Some of the best times me and my mates have are just chatting idly while playing smash. Even if the conversation might not be riveting at all times, it's those lulls that makes the highs that much more impactful. Cutting out every pause and silence to get to the "best parts" makes it less authentic and a bit too perfect and fast-paced. It's nice to just hang out and enjoy the whole conversation as it would happen. Besides, half the stuff you guys mention "cutting out" are parts that I quite enjoyed and would have missed otherwise. It's not always easy to tell what parts the audience would like.
