Nice reaction. The first time we saw this, our granddaughter decided that we didnt need any sound.. She narrated and acted out the entire movie for us.. omg I wish I had taped that... The composition of this song is insane.

Just a little heads up about this song .... It just reached #1 this week on the Billboard Hot 100 knocking Adele out of the #1 spot. Its the first Disney song to hit #1 since A Whole New World (end credits version) from Aladdin in 1993, AND its the first song in over 4 years to have just one person to write the song completely (music and lyrics) to hit #1 as well.

During the "orange-red" part with the one who can hear everything, look in the background, on the balcony...you can see Bruno sneaking around and bobbing his head to the music. He goes in and out a couple times during that part.

Watch the film with headphones. I’m not sure if you noticed, but the vocals were balanced to move around from left to right as the characters moved across the screen. If you have a surround sound system at home that would be ideal, but since most people don’t, headphones are the way to go. Just a little tip!

They hit on it very briefly in the first song you did about the Madrigal family, they said "My Tio Bruno (Tio is uncle).....We don't talk about Bruno.......They say he saw the future, one day he disappeared". That is all they say about him in that song. The mystery of Bruno and how he is connected to Mirabel is a big part of the move. And yes, bring tissues.

What should you do next? WATCH THE MOVIE! :-) To me, one of the richest and deepest movies I've seen in a number of years. :-) It's funny, and musically simply fantastic. BUT it's also a huge, multi-layered metaphor to which pretty much everyone can relate, at many levels, full of details and insights. You could find analogies with some themes of "100 años de Soledad" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and I don't want to give away anything of the story... But when you'll watch the movie, all the songs will be fully understandable, because they'll be in context. I confess I cried my guts out all along the movie. If you want to watch another song before watching the full movie, I'd suggest "Surface pressure"... It won't give away too much of the story, it's a GREAT song, with a GREAT message.

This whole song is about misinterpretation and perspective, and Lin’s a genius like that. And Lin is KNOWN for voice overlaying, look at Hamilton, In The Heights, Mary Poppins Returns, and Moana.

Madrigal singing, where each singer carries a different - but complementary - line evolved in / between the 1400's > 1600's. What a surprise then that the family name in Encanto is 'The Madrigals'! Anyone would think that perhaps the composer of this animated musical had some classical knowledge... Maybe !?! Composers of Madrigals were also known for developing the technique called 'Word Painting' which was all about matching the music to the lyrics in order to tell the story of the song. { Although... travelling minstrels creating folk songs centuries before this might have some protest about the origin of the latter } 😆😉

If you want some nice movies then I'll highly recommend Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, Legend of the guardians: owls of Ga'Hoole, Rise of the guardians, The Adventures of TinTin, Atlantis, Meet the Robinsons. Not only are the animation breathtaking in these but also the unique storyline and musics.

Fun trivia: Bruno was originally named Oscar, but Lin-Manuel Miranda got them to change it to Bruno because it was so much easier to write "We don't talk about Bruno" than "We Don't Talk About Oscar". (Specifically, the we don't talk about Bruno-no-no-no part just sounded cooler.)

I recommend "Dos Oruguitas" from "Encanto" also in this song when Delores (the second verse) if you look behind them up on the second floor you can see Bruno sneaking around and eventually grooving along with the music.

Honestly, this song could've been released in lieu of a trailer and it would have hyped up the movie just as well. So many first reactors say the same thing at the end, "Wait! What happens next?"
