Recovery guy here, Straps go behind the wheel, Just make sure you are clear of brake lines otherwise you can pinch them when tightening. To strap the vehicle over the wheel you would need different straps and lashing points

Angle cut the rear ends of the boards you screwed onto the trailer, that circular saw should be able to be adjusted so you can 30, 45 or w/e them. Also hole saw(at least the lower layers) of your wood stepper boards to lighten them up. I like those rubber side lights, idk how many plastic ones my friends broke on my trailer. Noticed you had to wrap the ratchet ends in cloth, might wanna get some diff straps so you can use those on the other non-body side tie point. Looks Great, nice cheap trailer.

Sick trailer build guys, I do a fair bit of towing with my 110 td5 and would fully recommend heavy duty rear springs improves it loads!

Wee tip for you guys I use when loading my e39 drift car (quite a low and long car). I put a bit of scaffy board under the rear wheels of my tow vehicle (bmw x3) which raises the back or the car and front or the trailer.... basically a free tilting trailer mod 💪😂

Straps behind the wheels, to go over need holes in the bed and hooks, put some ramps under the defenders rear wheels aswell will lower the rear of the trailer

Yh you want the straps around the back of the wheel and they should sit at 10 an 2 on the wheels, so basically keep the alloy strap above the hub nut on a wheel 👌👌 trailer looks alot better now ✌️

Pull the end of the ratchet straps though the way they came into the ratchet. Makes it way easier to pull the slack through before you tighten them.

Just get longer ramps for the trailer. Also sand down part of the planks on the bed so it drives on easier

One thing I’d say is they the stalk side markers should be right on the front and right on the back of the trailer.

I strap cars down at work the strap definitely goes behind the wheel to stop it moving forward and back on the travel you will be doing 😊

Nice Vid! Just be careful that your ratchets dont rub on the car, damaging the paint! I moved my anchor points so that are well clear of the car.

Loads of great stuff in the comments already but slick trailers and ramps are a pain at the ends of a skid day when you're doing a burnout with bald tires on the trailer trying to get it loaded. Could do a diamond pattern in the wood with a chainsaw like they do on skinnys.

Easiest way would be to get some legit ramps (sealey or the like) and reverse the back wheels of the defender on to them therefore reducing the loading angle.

Drive the back wheels of the land rover up on some chocks and it will lower the ramps on the trailer 👍

I'd put the ratchets the other way round so there no so close to the doors , soon as I seen the end of the metal coming off the scaffy plank I knew Andy was getting hit

Get Jack to fit Perspex windows to as much as possible without cracking them 😂. Just a side note- Check your driving license you don’t need a car and trailer test!
