Ages they won their first ring - Magic Johnson: 20 Kobe Bryant: 21 Kawhi Leonard: 22 Bill Russell: 23 Tim Duncan: 23 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 24 Larry Bird: 24 Dwyane Wade: 24 Giannis Antetokounmpo: 26 LeBron James: 27 Steph Curry: 27 Wilt Chamberlain: 28 Isiah Thomas: 28 Michael Jordan: 28 Shaquille O’Neal: 28 Kevin Durant: 28 Nikola Jokic: 28 Hakeem Olajuwon: 31 Oscar Robertson: 32 Dirk Nowitzki: 32 (week before turning 33) Jerry West: 34 The age of 28 seems to be the most common answer like the age 27 is usually when a great rock star dies (Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Cobain, Winehouse). It’s still Jokic’s era. He’s in his prime ages along with Murray at 27 and Porter Jr. at 25. Denver isn’t disappearing after a year being the champion. Still a long runway like Heatles and Warriors had. It’s not impossible for TWolves to win it all. Just needs to get by Denver as I think they can handle Boston or NY. DWade won a ring at 24 and played next to Shaq and Zo. Kobe won a ring at 21 but playing next to prime Shaq. Magic won a ring at 20 but he was next to Kareem who was an MVP at 33. But for most cases, the champions aren’t guys with little playoff experience and their best player is below 27. We’ve seen younger, lesser experienced teams fail…. 1995 Orlando Magic 2012 Oklahoma City Thunder 2018 Philadelphia Sixers 2018 Boston Celtics People saying it’s the “changing of the guard.” Yes, that’s true. But it’s still Jokic’s era. This happened back in 2015 with Steph and the Warriors. It’s happening 7-8 years later with Jokic. He’s a center we’ve never seen before just like we never saw a player shoot as well as Steph prior to his arrival in 2009. Denver will repeat barring no injuries. Murray and KCP do look a little hurt. 1. Denver Nuggets 2. Minnesota Timberwolves 3. Boston Celtics 4. Dallas Mavericks 5. New York Knicks Two of these five teams can reach the Finals. Ignore the rest…. Oklahoma City Thunder Cleveland Cavaliers Indiana Pacers A team for the future Orlando Magic

*@ThePatman1980* Wade was definitely the best player on the 2006 Heat and he had a top 10 Finals performance of the 3pt line era (since 1980). It was never Steeph's era either, LeBron was the best player in the NBA from 2005-06 through 2019-20. The Nuggets are most likely going to lose too. Also OKC definitely has a chance of making the Finals although I have the winner of the Wolves/Nuggets series defeating whoever wins the OKC/Dallas series.

@justsayin669
@justsayin669 26 күн бұрын
*@Daveyjdigital* While I'm always glad to see more basketball fans, I find it very weird that whether or not certain people can enjoy watching the sport hinges entirely on one player playing a very specific way. A big part of the beauty of basketball is the different playstyles that can be used to be successful. Also do they really "enjoy watching basketball again" if it's just because of him or do they just enjoy watching Anthony Edwards specifically?

@justsayin669
@justsayin669 24 күн бұрын
@@henkerharmse9361 I understand that they like his playstyle, that goes without saying or else they wouldn't say that he's the reason why they started watching basketball again. I'm saying that it's weird that one particular playstyle that is only used by 1 or players who are anywhere near Jordan or Kobe's level at any give time is the entire reason why they "enjoy watching basketball". Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, SGA, Luka, Tatum, LeBron, AD, Wemby etc all have noticeably different playstyles and they're all great players with all but 2 or 3 of the players that I just named being elite two way players and the ones who aren't great defenders are great in multiple other areas. If you can't enjoy watching any of them and you can only enjoy watching Ant, then do you really like watching the NBA or do you just like watching a Jordan-type playstyle and that's it? Besides, SGA also has a very Jordan-like playstyle as a 6'6" two way midrange monster so I'm not sure why people who prefer a Jordan-type playstyle wouldn't also heavily enjoy watching SGA play. Besides, Ant doesn't really take that many midrange shots and in the regular season so far in his career he isn't efficient with his midrange shots. However his efficiency on midrange shots so far in his career skyrockets in the playoffs oddly enough. What's wrong with how today's game is played? The leaguewide offensive playstyle is the smartest, most effective, hardest to defend playstyle in NBA history which challenges defenses more than ever and imo makes good defense in today's NBA more entertaining than good defense in any past era in NBA history.

Real analysis right here. Anthony Edwards might very well be the updated version of MJ fit for the league as it is today. Edwards can shoot 3s, but also somewhat replicate MJ moves at the rim and at the mid-range. He's not as good as MJ at being MJ though; he's shorter, has shorter reach and smaller hands. But MJ couldn't shoot 3s like Edwards can either. MJ was the best in the context of his own kind of game in his own era. Edwards might very well be the most optimal player for this era.

People now have to accept that the MJ era is not the same as today and it is very important to integrate this aspect, Ant will never reach the level of MJ, if you want then we will have to go back to lots of things that were there at the time...but it's impossible, Ant may be the best player one day but forget MJ, the day when a rookie will be at 30 points per game, will score 60+ on a game playoffs you will call me and these are just 2 examples. Spacing today is clearly an advantage for offensive players; we cannot compare MJ with the offensive players of the small ball/spacing era.

Lets slow down a little folks. Yes, Anthony Edwards is athletically superior to everyone in todays NBA. However, if I say Michael Jordan was a god amongst men on the basketball court, I don't expect to find anyone that will argue against it. That's the difference.

Why do people not get the comparison. Their athleticism is very similar as a traditional 2 guard. And i think they both have the huge hands issue where the ball is like a tennis ball when they shoot it. This version of Ant is very similar to the 80's version of jordan 💯 Hope he wins a few tho compared to that version of mj hahah

Let the kid develop, cause I think he the truth, he the real deal, but media has been trying for so long to put this pressure on all young athletes to a degree that has hindered their careers in the end. He the real deal but let him be. Or at least use the right phrasing cause let's not pretend the media is not smart enough to better phrase those statements, "he's the next MJ", instead of saying his game is very similar and the attitude too, but when you make a statement like that, automatically transforms into resume, expectations and then some

I have money on the Nuggets and TWolves to win the West. Parlayed it with like 15 horses in the Kentucky Derby over the weekend which included Mystic Dan. But what’s up with the overreactions after Game 1? 🤣 Stephen A. is ready to shovel dirt at the reigning champs? If this goes 7 and I believe it will go 7, Minny isn’t winning a road game in Denver. I fully expect Denver to win Game 2. Then they’re going to win a game in Minnesota. These Nuggets have recovered from a 3-1 deficit and twice in the same playoff run. Jokic has won three Game 7s in his career. The Nuggets are the more seasoned team. Even if they lose Game 3 and 4 after winning Game 2, I still wouldn’t want to count out Denver. Michael Malone is a better coach than Chris Finch. He will figure something out that would force Finch to make an adjustment. I’m actually in agreement with Skip Bayless: Denver in 7. If it goes 7, Denver is winning that Game 7 at home. And Jamal Murray could be the most CLUTCH player in the playoffs we’ve seen since Michael Jordan. Yeah, over Kobe. Shocking, LeBron has the most buzzer beaters in the playoffs with five. MJ only has three although two of them was to end a series. If the games gets tight, as much as I love Ant, I think Jamal will outgun him late. I trust Jamal more. You saw what he did to ESPN’s Lakers. He hit two game winners and the last one was to send the Lakers home. We’re still very early in this series but SAS is already overreacting from a Game 1 result. This is the Finals. Whoever wins between Denver vs. Minnesota wins it all. Boston doesn’t have the mental toughness to even handle the Knicks. While the Knicks lack that firepower and rely too much on Brunson’s offense. Denver and Minnesota are like Lakers and Spurs from 1999-2010. One of those teams always reached the Finals thanks to an all-star big and wing. The TWolves are built more like the 99 and 03 Spurs when David was still on that team. And then comparisons to the 09 and 10 Lakers when Kobe had twin towers in Pau and Bynum. While Denver is built like the 00-02 Lakers. Jokic is the new Shaq. Jamal is just as clutch in the playoffs as Kobe and Horry. Don’t count out the champs just yet. Be foolish after Game 1. Then what’s SAS next prediction after Denver wins Game 2 and steal Game 3 or 4? Changing his mind again? Relax. A series gets interesting by Game 4 and 5. Not after Game 1. We’ve seen good teams lose Game 1s only to come back from it and win in 5, 6, or 7. The 2012 Thunder won Game 1 of the Finals only to lose the next 4. Minny is still young. They’re still capable of blowing it.

Whoever the Lakers get this summer, they’re not beating the Nuggets and TWolves for the next 5+ years. LeBron can keep stat padding his longevity numbers.

I don't know if it's fair to call it strictly stat padding. I mean Lebron wants to win a championship more than anyone. Him and his team just don't have that ability. That's a major goal for him regardless. I think it's unrealistic too, and highly unlikely to him.
