To say that Texas Roadhouse enjoys a steady stream of returning customers and soon-to-be regulars alike would be an understatement. Since the chain opened its first location's doors way back in 1993, carnivores across the country - and beyond - have made it their go-to getaway for all things meaty.
While its entrees' prices may vary, depending on the quality of a cut and the size of a guest's order, the red meat staple's menu remains pretty affordable across the board. But how exactly does a chain known for its delicious, quality food manage to keep its prices so low? Well, we finally know why Texas Roadhouse is so cheap.

Ive been there a couple of times and i loved it, i would go there a lot more if it wasn't for the insane atmosphere,i will have a sub par steak and meal if i can have some peace and quiet,both of the times i have been there it seemed like it was the chow hall at San Quentin so no,the other night me and my friend went there at 9 hoping it would be a little more manageable and we didn't even try to go in, we are planning on doing 10 pm soon and see what thats like,lol.

Btw, host and SA's do get a 3% tipout of TOTAL sales from their shift. Plus an hourly wage.

I travel a lot around the US, and Texas Roadhouse is always a good bet. I know I'm going to get a consistently good meal at one (at least I have so far). Yeah, I've had better steaks elsewhere (for a premium price), but I know what to expect there and have never been disappointed. Plus, I like the atmosphere. And the rolls and cinnamon honey butter. What a great starter.

So long as you don't buy anything upcharged, Texas Road House is great. I buy only the 16 ounce sirloin with two sides and water: 20$.

@@chetahpumpz358 I only got the 6oz sirloin, fries, and rice but it was great. I used to work there back in 2018 and I've tried every steak they have and really you can't go wrong with any of em. I usually get mine cooked medium rare and it's always exactly right.

Most sit-down restaurants are closed for lunch during the week now, with many opening at 4pm.The lunch crowd was usually slow during the week before the pandemic and now it's basically nonexistent.

When I lived by one used to get free steak on veterans day. Would pay for a beer and tip heavily.

The Roadhouse near us (Ashburn, VA) is a mess. They opened it during COVID, so they made the seating super cramped because half of it had to stay empty at the time. Now they just left it that way so it just totally sucks inside. I'll get takeout, but that's it. Our local store is trash for dine in.

For its quality of food they are cheap. Yes while a family of 4 can cost between $80-$120 , I’ll take that over any high end “steakhouse “ that would be double that price.

I've never eaten at TRH and the closest one to me is about 45 miles away (don't know why). Having seen the prices for their 20 oz rib eye steak with 2 sides at about $32 that's about what I expected to pay. Is it cheap? Nope. Are you paying for quality of the meat cooked to your specification? I would say you're paying for the expertise of the butcher and the cook so, yes. Would I pay this price? I would only do so if I were visiting from out of town.

With beef prices these days, that's not a bad price. At the Vince Young Steakhouse in Austin TX a 22oz bone in ribeye is $64 and a 16oz one is $56 and that's BEFORE sides!

Yeah that’s true but know a days,depending on how far away you live from the nearest Texas Roadhouse you might wind up spending twice as much when you factor in how much fuel cost per gallon know a days.

In n.j the minimum wage is $13an hour So that's nowhere the low wages you were talking about.they are a good value for the money .I dont what people expect in today's World. that your going to a get a steak from the dollar menu? They do use to much salt and they have to be told light on the seasoning.

The food is great and,they take time out to fine out who the people feel about the food,the chef’s there have a great understanding about working as a team ,to get the food out with flavor and cooked well with the right ingredients to gave the tastes everyone loves so much.

It actually is.....You can Feed a Family of 4 can eat under $60 bucks, which is very Cheap when you want to take the out to eat on a Friday

Cheap? Uh no. I guess that term is quite subjective. They used to at least have "early bird" dinners, but they don't anymore. At least not my local one.

They don't like lingering at all, they turn the music up so loud so you DON'T stay!!! I went there once, and that was it for me. I never went back to that place.

Lingering gives less profits so rushing customers is part of they're focus. That's why I don't do sit down restaurants much anymore I go through drive thru or pick up the food to avoid getting tipped. I always found it weird how you pay for your food, drinks, taxes and then at the end your pressured for tips. I did read about that in the customer reviews very loud and noisy.

Was there 2 wks ago, 2 people got rib eye steak, no alcoholic drinks, bill was $63.00. Ordered plain baked potato, came loaded (wasn't charged), but potato was rotten in the middle. They use way too much salt and steaks are not that tender. Way over rated, would rather pay more and get a better meal somewhere else.

I had my first and last 3 dining experiences at a Texas Roadhouse 2-yrs ago. Two of them were horrible. Although management was quick to address my complaints, I will never eat there again! Very overrated in MHO.

Lol ; somebody pee in your cornflakes… I take that as a yes. The food is great , the prices are good , and the service for the most part is great. You can’t win them all , but trust me you can go elsewhere if you want as life goes on… Good luck with McDonald’s or Wendy’s 😂
