The whole "big robots punching each other" theme gave this movie some kind of a negative first impression in the eyes of many people who ended up not watching it, many expected a Transformer-y type of movie with explosions and fx being the protagonists, when in reality it's a very touching father-son story with quite interesting values and character growth. Extremely underrated movie

Yeah, I went to see this at the dollar theater, thinking it wasn't going to be much but was surprised at how good it was.

This is an extremely underrated movie. I don't think a lot of people realize just how good it really is. They see robot boxing and just don't give it a shot.

Real Steel is literally a reboot of "Over the Top" but using a plot from the original Twilight Zone series from an episode by the same name called "Real Steel" and it was about the future where all boxing is done by robots and not humans anymore. Great movie and it captures the same emotions from Over the Top.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. Soooo underrated and I am very surprised there never was a sequel to it, but I love it as a standalone film too. I actually watched this by accident in 2011. I remember we got tickets for Twilight's "Breaking Dawn" part 1 for Black Friday, but something happened at the theater with that film that night and were not able to show it. They gave us tickets for a later date, but also gave us free tickets to this unknown film "Real Steel" movie for that night as a courtesy. We came out amazed and so glad we got so see it!

Real Steel will always be one my favorite comfort movies. You have no idea how many times I bothered Shawn Levy for a sequel of this. He always said he was going to do another one. He never did. The kid grew up.

the zoo fight at 16:00 was filmed at belle isle abandoned zoo, an island next to Detroit. it was fun to explore after watching this movie

I remember this movie when it came out. I saw it in theatres and absolutely loved it. Thought it was cool, heartwarming, and fun. I remember a bunch of my friends hated it, but I thought it was great.

It's as corny as Kansas, but the mix of old fashioned heart and new fangled animatronic cyber tech makes this movie a winner for fathers and sons.

Another movie that I'm glad is getting its sequel in the works. This and Now You See Men have been getting more tracking thus letting their sequel scripts(and Now You See Me 3) get put to work. Also that Kid is Young Thor in the first Thor movie haha

One of my favorite movies of all time. It doesn't need a sequel in my opinion, but I would not say no if they ever made one. I think they've been trying to make another one for years so maybe we'll get one at some point.

This movie was coming years ago, at that time I couldn't sleep and going to the theater just so I can sleep in it. So i pick randomly which it was this movie, and at the entire movie I was like so pumped up that even when I got home I couldn't sleep and do a little boxing because of the excitement..😂

I classify this as a movie that shouldn't work.. but very much does. In so many ways it's cheesier than most boxing movies and they usually have a pretty high cheese factor. Hugh's character is really unforgivably terrible in the beginning of the movie but still it manages to pull us back in and give us a great redemption arc.
