Bullied by classmates, young Max (Cayden Boyd) escapes into a fantasy, conjuring up the action-packed lives of Lavagirl (Taylor Dooley) and Sharkboy (Taylor Lautner). But one day, Lavagirl and Sharkboy suddenly come to life -- and their world, Planet Drool, needs a hero named Max. As Max escapes to Planet Drool, he battles aliens and tries to save his new friends' planet from destruction. He also battles his bullies, who have become villains like the Ice Princess (Sasha Pieterse).

The parents are so busy fighting that they don't notice a shark boy living in their shower for however many days. They also ignore the obvious signs of shark boy and lava girl eating the cookies 😂

I remember hearing somewhere that shark boy and lava girl were manifestations of how max views his parents (besides the cookie giants) and that always bugged me because shark boy is so quick to anger but his father is quite chill while lava girl is sweet and nurturing while his mother is strict and logical.

I remember having this movie on DVD with 3D glasses, and I had a fun time with it as a kid. Since this movie was about dreams, you can tell they had a lot of fun with this. Even one of Robert Rodriguez’s kids, Racer helped make this movie. Not only is this underrated, this is a piece of my childhood. 😊

This movie is basically The Wizard of Oz 2.0. If you think about it: tornado, dream, characters from the real world having counterparts in the dream world. Also, Robert Rodriguez (the director) did another movie called “Spy Kids”, which I would recommend watching next.

16:16 Fun and Interesting fact about Taylor Lautner, before the movie was released he auditioned to play as SharkBoy and he was the first ones and the director Robert watched some of his Martial Arts videos and he was very impressed, amazed by his skills that’s how he got the main roll right away. Also he was only 13 years old when this was filmed!

This and Spy Kids 3 were actually really creative with the 3D. This movie signaled people to put on their glasses when the ship said "GLASSES ON". In Spy Kids 3, the 3D was used for very specific parts of the movie.

I prefer this movie than the sequel. At least, the concept is original! I don't remember seeing a kid going into a land of dreams with the characters he created, it's fun! Also, the action is good and Sharkboy| Lavagirl's friendship is well done. I can definitely believed thoses two are friends. Their romance comes out of nowhere but if Max imagine it, it makes sense. Linus is hilarious and a cool villain, i adore him 😂 The second movie has; a '' creative '' plot (Stoping an alien invasion) We never saw that before in Independance day or Men in black 1, Avengers 1 etc 😒🙄 There's way too many kids and none of them are developped so i don't really care about them and don't remember their names (Not their hero's names, their real names.) The action is ok and the effects too but the rest is really boring.

No, it's not. It's based on a story by the producer/director's son who came up with it. His son plays young Shankboy in the beginning. Spy Kids was the first movie; with this one coming out next. Spy Kids 2 and 3 came out after.

I’m afraid I owe you an apology Tim. Back in your groundhog reaction, I thought Anias Luna was a character that Clariss made up and it was her in makeup. Yeah, but if you don’t have dreams about anybody else most of the time, then your dreams end up with like Netflix shows or like something even cringer that’s why mostly dream about cringe things now like earlier today when I took a power nap I was dreaming about my past and it was like in the middle of my future so it’s kind of like the past present and future so it was kind of like in between and it was kind of like I mixed the mega builders with like Captain crunch cereal plus all grown up, but they were like babies and it was totally cool then I was like turning into a baby and then I threw up all over Winnie just a little bit and we were like rhyming to like make ourselves bigger and it was like something who could ever grow the bigger and it was totally worth it though but mostly just for like the scariness and it was like Alice in Wonderland mix with like the house of mouse so it was like totally cool as well plus, that’s like the second dream I haven’t had in years other than the nunu nunu suction cup therapy, kind of thing it was more like a suction cup therapy thing that like a long time ago that I went to you and I started crying and then that’s why I always had nightmares about nunu nunu but only the blue one not the orange one just because of like me falling asleep to section therapy I guess and why I haven’t done that in years, but that’s like beyond the point I just like trying to help other people so they don’t feel a little bit

PS most of my dreams are totally cool especially with the Netflix series and you should definitely think about watching Spirit Rangers if you’re gonna do another series
