I'm surprised this video helped you considering he failed to fix the CPU and he spread tons of ignorant terrible misinformation. First of all those metal plates with holes in them that he was using to hold the loose pin in place that he kept referring to as "Solder Masks". Yeah those are actually called Re-balling stencils.... Solder mask is a paste/gel that cures to a solid under UV light and is used for covering exposed traces/pads on circuit boards. A reballing stencil which is what he was actually using is not at all designed for straightening bent pins or aiding in soldering pins back on a CPU. The purpose is in the title, they are for reballing chips that have solder balls on them instead of contact pins. The fact they lined up with the pins on the CPU is nothing more then a dumb coincidence. They are literally used for matching up to the pattern on a balled chip. You then spread solder paste over it filling in all the holes and then you heat it up with a hot plate or hot air station and the solder paste melts and turns into solder balls on a chip. You should not rust videos on youtube as actual facts and should always do your own research. Not to be a hater but Linus is not a actual expert nor does he really even know about half the stuff he demonstrates in his videos. You gotta understand for the most part, he just walks on set and reads a script someone else wrote and usually has no knowledge, skills or experience about things he gives lessons on. Gone are the days of youtubers posting videos of things they are actually skilled in or knowledgeable about. LTT is a business and they aim to post as many videos as possible about as many topics as possible to make money. Not because they have knowledge or skills they want to share with the world. I guarantee if you tested Linus on topics and subjects hes talked about in previous videos he would get most of it wrong or not remember at all. And again thats because hes not actually knowledgeable or skilled in these kind of things. He has a writer that googles information, writes a script, he maybe proof reads it and then starts filming. If you want actual good information and tips about soldering and CPU repair watch an actual expert who does it for a living. Not Linus and his team who researched and made a video about it in a single afternoon.
