The object at 8:30 is part of the pumping system of an old wooden ship. In Dutch it is called the pompemmer or pomphart. Probably from a 16th-18th century wooden ship, but starting in the middle ages, ships would have these pumping systems for getting rid of water accumulating at the bottom inside. To be specific, you've found the part that moves inside the wooden pump pipe by pumping; the leather on it creates a vacuum in the pipe and allows water to be sucked up through the tube and up to the deck level, where it runs off through the scupper holes (het loopt de spuigaten uit). Pretty interesting for a loose find, usually you find them in old shipwrecks.

Another very interesting magnet fish. A golden rule in the metal detecting fraternity and a sigh of respect for the environment is after you dig a hole , you fill in the hole. The same goes for magnet fishing, regardless of what you pull out, you should never throw anything back. Metal detectorists have gained a bad name amongst public for holes that have been left open on beaches and parks. It takes a few to spoil the hobby for everyone and at the end of the day we complain because laws are enforced preventing these hobbies. You pull it- you keep it!

(Usually used for skinning deer or other animals killed DURRING hunting). Very interested into what you idd with this. As you probably don't have much of a use for it. But if you do please reply let me know. I have almost the exact same knife and only use it 2-3 months out of the year for widdling or shaving parts to make a fire. I try to keep it sharp for when I need it immediately. Again thanks for reading if you did. I've replied to many of these videos with 100% different comments. I write straight from my soul. The lighter that you found is from the 30- 40s I've got one just like it only mine works . Don't throw stuff down or away till you check it out. There is a You Tube video on some channel where a guy is restoring one like that.

They threw the lobster's home back in . Everything else they disposed off and at the end of the video, they're cleaning up the walkway with water to get the mud off.

Do you have a video/website for the treasure you've found and restored? I bet the WW1 lighter would look cool to see restored to functional use. Awesome video's. Your personality shines and it's always fun to watch even when you fish out a bike or someone's wallet - loved that one you called the lady up and she got back her items, same day. Keep it up!

Thanks mate, yeah I will have to do a restoration video. And yes it was so cool to find the lady who’s wallet we pulled out of the canal. She was so nice it’s a shame it was stolen from her

The only thing that Hennie threw back in was the CD player shell that the little lobster was living in, which is why he threw it in, so that the lobster could have his home. If you watch BTH's other videos, you'd know they don't normally put anything back in. Keep up the good work, Mate!
