We found something buried & it was not good. Our project is tearing out an old swampy pool and rebuilding the backyard. You'll see the whole job from start to finish.

I enjoy the job site videos as I have said before, for those of us that don't work in this industry (I'm retired from manufacturing after 40 years), it kind of gives us an idea of how much work goes into doing the job properly and why it cost what it cost.

Ive done demolition and removal of old foundations and old swimming pools. Around here in SW Missouri big rocks called floaters damage pool floors or footers. Crack them wide open. I have a 1973 White Dump truck 18yard Dump bed . My crawlers are a 1966 7-G Allis Chalmers Dozer and a 1964 6-G Front Loader. The 7-G has 30 inch wide tracks for the ground around here.

Hockey mask on the front 🤣 your funny, must have high water tables there is my guess for the extra support walls, my buddy back in the 80's worked for a company that did pool installs in Winnipeg, we have lots of land that was formerly marsh or swampy and they use to install these extra footings or walls to keep the pools from heaving during the warm months of heavy rainfall, the customers would always cringe when the installer told them this and said it was allot of extra work and money, great video Stan

I never worked in this industry but I did work in manufacturing for 40 years, now retired. Until I read you comment I didn't notice that back up alarm. You learn to tune it out if it is something you work around everyday. I know I did, you know what 'noise' you should be hearing and ignore it, it's just those other noises that get your attention real quick.
@GameVilleofficialpage
@GameVilleofficialpage 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think you do learn to tune it out but not after a few breakdowns. I know a guy was in a gehl and could not turn it off. looked far and wide on the inter webs and found zip. got so frustrated at one point he said he thought about taking a hammer to the speaker. Department of mental health and osha better have a sit down

The reason for the alarm comment... machinery has been running on my property for a few days. The operators are wearing ear protection, me the homeowner is not. Looking forward to their departure but the beeping will be buried in memory for awhile.

Stan You solid tires do not flex. The flex in the regular ties increases the area of the tire's foot print. That area difference is why the solid tires have less traction.

I like the single boom. I don't own one yet. I'm getting older and I don't like climbing over the bucket. I've slipped off the bucket twice in the ice. It hurts to land on your head! Just stepping into the side of the machine is awesome! Although those tires are questionable
@superdog1964
@superdog1964 4 жыл бұрын
The lifetime warranty on the single boom is great if you buy it new. What I just learned is that you should NEVER buy a used Volvo. Even if it is 3 months old, as 2nd owner, you lose if that boom breaks. Metal is just like a person, the older it gets the more it fatigues and each time it is used that boom is closer to breaking. A mono-boom is exposed to different stresses that a dual boom does not see. I have been on job sites with JCB units that have single arms. The Telehandlers usually are not exposed to the abuses a skid loader takes and the buckets are centered on excavator booms. I know that Volvo makes great equipment but if the entire machine has the same warranty as the boom? No more auction buys for me, no matter the hours.

Always when you are going to dig, have a rock clause, a surprise clause like footings and a liability waver in case you hit a utility. Call Miss Utility even if you think there is no way there is something buried. Years ago builders dug a pit in the backyard and buried every piece of garbage from the build.

I've seen four building lots go useless because under them was an old garbage dump nobody knew about. I jackhammered blue granite for two weeks when we hit a boulder which the geologists said extended a quarter mile under a dense established neighborhood so we couldn't blast. These guys are so clueless I wouldn't let them mow my lawn! Apparently the "big" thing they dug up was their ego...
