We are increasingly being asked what happened to cat Sonya. You all know that in the fall she was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancerous tumor. Surgery was impossible. Unfortunately no miracle happened and Sonya passed away. But her last months were full of love and care. It took us a long time to gather the strength to tell you about it. But here we are. I know some of you won't be able to hold back the tears. But that's life. We grieve and continue to care for those who remain by our side.

In Germany we have a saying: "She didn't leave us, she left before us." I firmly believe that dear Sonya is watching over you and watching you with love. You gave her a wonderful life and took care of her babies. You did everything humanly possible for Sonya to be happy and in her final hours she was surrounded by her loved ones. You are good people and love from your Sonya will always accompany and protect you. Thank you for being such empathetic people. I wish I had friends like that.

Als meine Oma wusste, dass sie fast bereit war zu gehen, da sie ihren Kampf gegen den Krebs verlor, sagte sie zu uns: „Ich verlasse dich nicht. Ich gehe nur vor dir. Далеко не всем котикам и собакам так повезло с хозяевами, как вашим питомцам. И не всем, увы, дано столько прожить. Соня прожила свою жизнь в любви, заботе, тепле и сытости. Понимаешь это, но всё равно тяжело смириться с утратой. Мне всех ушедших животных жаль , прямо как своих😢. Так жаль , что наши любимцы живут так мало, это их единственный недостаток...

We lost our 2 beautiful dogs over the past 2 years. They were our babies. It is so hard losing a baby you have had for several years!!!! I told my husband there is no shame in getting a new pet a few days or weeks after you lose your baby. It will help you ease your pain. We are now on our 4th and 5th puppies. Each pet has been a blessing.

😢 My sincere condolences on the death of dear Sonya. You gave her everything for a happy life with Belka, Bat and the three huskies. I had to say goodbye to my lovely Willow for a similar reason, she suffered from an untreatable cancer. She is here in the thumbnail picture. R.I.P my dear feline friends 💐🕊!

No Eric , my heart turned into pieces . I am so sorry & all my condolences. Beautiful angel is now released her pain & running freely . She joined the pack of our gone but always staying / living in our hearts babies . We will meet with them on the rainbow bridge one day , please never forget that . Я уверена, что Соня была вам послана, чтобы уберечь вас от чего-то, чего вы не заметили, возможно взяла себе болезни. Я знаю это не спроста, у нас тоже кот недавно появился, муж спас его от голодной мучительной смерти, и пока вёз домой через всю страну, кот спас его от угара в машине. Случайностей не бывает. I was braced for this. I was hoping differently but I remembered her cancer. So when I noticed she's not been in several videos when her children were, I feared the cancer took its toll. Best wishes to you and family

Thank you! They say cancer is a kind killer - it helps to accept the inevitable. But it's hard to prepare for illness and the loss of a beloved being.

@@NorthYukiHusky Too true. I've lost several family members to cancer, including my sister, just around 6 or so years ago. She didn't linger as they caught it too late. But one of my earliest memories (late 1970s) was of my great-grandfather who had cancer. I know cancer treatment (for humans) has changed a lot over 50 years but still... I remember him fighting it for years. I know that it had to get to him at times but he never let grandkids (great- is left off because (Great-)grandmother refused to be call great-gran-anything) see him down and Grandpa J always had a smile for us. My most cherished memory is around age 7 or 8 and went to visit him after he got out of the hospital after the cancer claimed an eye. He was there in a wheelchair middle of the room and asked me to go get a ball to play with him. (it was a rubber ball, not a small tennis ball) Soon we are tossing it gently back and forth, he would toss it a bit more force than I did, so I'd match the throw. Again, he tossed it a bit more strongly and I would match it. Soon we are throwing it back and forth fast and strong. Only for Papa ( who was always the party-pooper, strict and 'straight-laced') yell at me to be careful. I remember thinking that this is an old refrain, Papa yells at us kids only for Grandpa J to chide him "We're just playing". With that in mind, I look towards Grandpa J, expecting him to speak up. Only this time, he doesn't speak up...because he was too busy chuckling. He was laughing! I remember being flabbergasted at this old fart getting a great-grandkid in trouble. Instead of being hurt, I was amused at him and remembered how his wife would call him "the oldest grandchild!" when she was annoyed. Grandpa J suffered from cancer, but he made sure to live during those final years. It's been 45 years but he's still a huge part of me.

Такая же была история с котом,только он два раза падал с окна с 7о этажа.1й раз только лапку повредил и кожу на челюсти-вылечили,а вот во 2й раз к сожалению не удалось спасти 😢.Уже много времени прошло с того времени и все равно помню его шалости❤.Так что соболезную вам 😢.

Heartfelt condolences 🙏🏼🥀 I have never been a cat person - until the animal shelter where I walk dogs as a volunteer had to temporarily close down last year. The first pets that came back after the re-opening were cats. So, out of necessity, I started spending time with them, as I just did again today. I'm so grateful these wonderful, affectionate & elegant creatures came into my life 💕🐈‍⬛

I feel so sorry for your loss of SONYA. We have gone through this 5 times . I know it is hard . What we always say , all our cats had chosen us to live with us. Once we know for sure, they were loved by us and left this world in love. And we are great believers in , we will meet them again. Until then they watch over us . THEY ARE ALWAYS AROUND US UNTIL OUR TIME HAS COME. We hug you all: animals and human. And one special hug goes up to SONYA🙏❤🐱❤🐱❤🐱❤🐱❤🙏

@@NorthYukiHusky Thank you. Having and loving your animals means, at some you /I have to let go. But the memories always stay with you. Believe me, time comes, when you talk about your friend , which has gone and suddenly your face lights up and you smile again of a funny situation you have experienced. This time comes, believe me. Isn't it wonderful, when you can smile again. ? Your best friend still lives in you and with you, although you can't see it anymore. And one day we are all together again. Thank you for this. I remember asking you some time ago where Sonya was, as you said she had cancer and suddenly she didn’t appear in your videos after that, it got me confused. It’s hard to let go, but I feel the same: be thankful for all the wonderful years spent and beautiful memories. And Sonya in a way lives on through her little ones, who are still with you. 😽😽😽. On a sidenote, our 19 year old cat Sonja, an orange girl also passed away lately, last October. Also came to us as a small kitten when we lived in Singapore. Moved with us to Amsterdam and then 5 years ago to Kuala Lumpur. I am sure Sonja and Sonya meet in cat heaven, sharing stories and memories. Life goes on, but memories will stay. ❤❤❤

What a lovely tribute to Sonya. I didn't know that Bat and Belka were siblings. When you showed the photo of the four kittens, it was obvious that two dads were involved. No matter how long or short of a time we have our furry friends, it's never, ever easy to let them go. I've been married for 41 yrs and in that time we've had SO many rescues come through. Some were old when we got them. Some not. Some came with health issues, some not. We loved them all and mourned each loss. We currently have two older boys. Moose is the elder one and I dread the day he crosses the rainbow bridge. He's been my foster kitten babysitter since 2011. Someone said grief is the price we pay for loving our animal companions. I think it's true. I also like what LuanaLu883 said about leaving before us.
