The Romantic Road (German: Romantische Straße) is a "theme route" devised by promotion-minded travel agents in the 1950s. It describes the 460 kilometres (290 mi) of roads between Würzburg and Füssen in southern Germany, specifically in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, linking a number of picturesque towns and castles.
We didn't exactly do the complete route justice as it would have taken quite a bit of time to visit each location. Würzburg was a real gem and our walk around the city wall of Nördlingen stood out.

Welcome! We’re Andre and Lisa. A married South African Italian couple, who have been travelling together for almost 20 years, to more than 40 countries. In 2018 we gave up our professional careers and all our personal possessions in order to explore the world as full-time nomads.

I'm doing random catch ups while I kinda have a bit of time and SO glad I picked this 1! What a treat! You guys funny as always and this was just BE-YU-TI-FUL. Both towns were great in different ways but I have to say I much preferred that fortress to the residence - I'm not one for formality, give me rugged any day. And that overnight stop was so pretty. Some great tips smattered in here - pros and cons of paid parking and how much to expect to pay for amenities, no trucks on Sundays (huge tip), and many more. Keep up the great work guys! ❤

The names can be tricky! But we both speak Afrikaans which is also 'Germanic' and that helps a bit - sort of, maybe 😅😋

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is not far from Würzburg. Fantastic medieval town. I used to live only a couple of hours away.

Hey Andre and Lisa, I am a huge admirer of your channel. Tell Lisa she is super cute and we are very similar. Anyway, my husband and I are going to be motoring in Europe. We are residents of Spain (Calpe) and we are wondering how you pull out cash while traveling. I am not sure if you covered this before. Laundry? We're there! 😎 You sure seem to know all about the reality of van life. 😋 Thanks for your comment, Alison! We'll probably pass through Alicante in a few months so stay in touch! With regards to your question, we actually don't use a lot of cash and for the most of it just pay by card. But we do carry cash as in some places (and countries) it's the only way. Our N26 accounts allows for free withdrawal of EURO and when we're in a non-EURO country we consider which ATMs charge the lowest fee and with which bank ours have a no (or low) conversion rate. You can also consider a free Wise account which comes with a debit card - they also offer free withdrawals and good conversion rates. www.wewillnomad.com/post/transferwise-borderless
