Mat Klemp built the car that he always wanted to build. He takes us for a ride in his Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car. In the movie Dick Van Dyke built the car.

Here is a modest and a humble man who represents what a good eduction is all about. He has the ability to create concepts, understands movements and dynamics, and has the ability to research build what he desires. He knows himself and can learn whatever he wants. A man who can fill in his time and understands raw materials and their complexity. He makes a good educator for children as he does not only send them to libraries, but also appreciates what goes on in workshops and laboratories, he is a fully educated intelligent happy man who understands material and society. Congratulations. The car looks majestic and has character. I bet is attracts a few looks wherever it goes, even if it does not fly!

And fortunately, you are someone who can recognize this. The lack of people like this man , is why our country is slowly , but surely going down the drain. We are no longer a CAN DO ,WILL DO , NATION. We have become a DONT WANNA DO , LET SOMEONE ELSE DO COUNTRY. Thanks for recognizing , just how valuable, people like this guy are.

Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang has always been my favourite childhood movie. (Many people might not know it was written by Ian Fleming, who also wrote all the James Bond books) I absolutely love the idea of making a replica, and would do it myself if I had the time/money/skills. Thanks to the builder and to Chuck for featuring this car.

The Chevy 6 is a good engine choice for that. It would be fun to have something like that. I've tossed around the idea of building something that looks about 20 years more modern around a CAT C-15 (a giant low RPM engine) so it would actually feel like it had some giant low RPM engine in a 1930's car. I drive an old Kenworth with the same driveline, and when bobtail, I only use the top five gears. The feeling of being able to engage the clutch in 7th gear without any throttle assistance and quickly taking off is awesome. In a car, I would likely disable the first five gears, or relocate the range selector to the dashboard.

Unbwlievable. I am an inventor crbader also mostly because of this movie watched as a child. This is amazing work congratulations and I don't know that people understand the depth of heart ambition persistence it takes. The whole movie is amazing but the two parts that get me the most are when it pulls out of the garage, and when Sally Ann Howes mouth drops when the car rolls in by itself to get its family. No one understands the creative dream in a man to make something Amazing. Our world doesnt have the hope/life/ imagination/ dream anymore.

Very cool I love to see dreams come true. There is such a lack of the hand pounded low budget projects anymore because of the demand for the flipper chassis. The guys with money usually don't even work on the cars, and everything these days well almost everything to put a classic rust bucket back on the road is just a click away. And that is an awesome thing if you got the extra dough. So thanks Chuck for letting me enjoy the fruits of Mr. Klemp"s hard labor. It is very refreshing to see the regular Joe the 9 to 5 guy make time to accomplish a scratch built car. I salute you Mat that is an auto worthy to swap spit with any auto mfg. on the planet. And ain't it great not having to make a 700 dollar car payment while being forced to buy full coverage insurance, and knowing that you can build your own car. You are free from the mind numbing reality of the disposable vehicle society still using rubber for tires and crud oil for fuel. I hope someday that mainstream humanity will become bipedal and actually want to make the world a better place instead of just wanting to make there world a better place. Of course I can usually find fault in anything. But not here! built you dream car with your bare hands. What an awesome thing to be able to do!!!!!!!

I have been a fan of chatty chatty bang bang since I first saw it in 1995. In fact it was my first film I ever saw. I have seen many replicas made, and some were very good, others, left much to be desired. I am a nitpicking individual who has a very sharp attention to detail, and I could count the nitpicks I have with your replica on one hand (four). Don’t let that detract from the fact that this is 100% hands down the BEST scratch built replica that I have ever seen. Your attention to detail, the high quality of your work and time you put in pays off tenfold. I would easily say that if you hadn’t said this was scratch built, I would have assumed it was constructed from one of the four stunt cars built for the film; that’s how superb it is. Honestly, you should take 100% pride and know that you have blown away all the competition, and I can’t sing your praises enough!

Implicitly, he created a project management plan for this creation, including scope, schedule, materials and budget. Ideally, this plan then materialized into a set of spreadsheets or similar documents that could be sold to others with an interest in following that plan. Of course, he is in possession of the 'secret sauce' of skills and tenacity for making it all happen. In my case, I have a couple friends that are experienced in auto fabrication and could take such a plan and run with it ... for a negotiated price.
