The mystery fossil from the idioscene is definitely a Zmanus diezelii, sporting a lustrous chartreuse tinge

😄😄😄 Excellent! We knew someone would know! It looks like this one has seen many a battle since its belly spike is missing!

Hey there, thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! Find any parallels with ammonite fossil hunting? (There's probably lots of broken ammonites, just like the broken shark teeth we find!)

@@CharlestonFossilAdventuresYes the experience is familiar, some stunners and some true heartbreaking partials, the latter more often 😅 Already looking forward to the next video!

Ahh yes, the thrills of the hunt! Ha! But, the partials make the complete fossils all the more special. We have only a few flawless teeth of size, but the stories and memories behind finding them are ingrained in our memory! Perhaps one day we can meet up. In what state/province do you collect your ammonites?

@@CharlestonFossilAdventures I would love to meet up one day but I'm from Europe, collecting on the French coast. If I would ever make it to the states and happen to be nearby, I'd definately contact you 😁

@@TheAmmoniteHunter We figured you were across the pond (or in Canada!). Yes, maybe someday our paths will cross! At least for now there is the internet. 😁

EXCELLENT gravel bed. Although there are exceptions, It seems the larger, heavier fossilized items want to gravitate downwards in elevation and accumulate in the deeper levels. It seems the items you are searching have washed upwards from the bottom. Unless it is dredge from back in time. I always wonder how long has the item been out of the formation and what paths has it taken to get to where we find them. Looks like the water and air temps will be going up and Covid is going to be going down. Happy hunting!

Hi Lee, thanks for watching and good to hear from you! Indeed, most of the larger finds tend to be resting at the low tide line for us. Short of diving, those king tide weeks are our favorite time to scour the shorelines. Hope you’re well. Stay healthy and happy hunting!

@@CharlestonFossilAdventures Covid has infected most of my family but they came out of it. No one died but one almost died. I am backing away from the creek hunting. Long story. Headed back to the rivers and coastlines. My scuba gear is covered with cobwebs. Have not touched it in a few years. Chest deep snorkeling with weight belt seems to work somewhat for me. Have not perfected it yet. I get a lot of online strangers want me to take them out and point to a 700 dollar tooth for them to pick-up. I typically give them your links. I have a list of about 20. I will give you the link

Goodness, glad to hear that your family has made it through covid okay. And yes, it seems that there’s a growing misperception about the frequency with which big megalodon teeth are found down here. Thanks so much for your support and passing on the company name!
