We rushed out of New Mexico as a bad cold front was headed for us. We had planned to Boon-dock just south of Carlsbad Caverns. But with poor freeze conditions and rain coming, we headed to TX a day ahead of schedule. Monahans State Park let us come in a head of our reservation. It was perfect for us. My heater quit working, but I had learned about the 'sail-switch' and cleaned that up, and the furnace was working again.
