I personally am sort of relieved they aren't releasing Abberation till September. I play on a private server with my buds and we all have lives lol want to be able to thoroughly enjoy the center and not feel rushed to beat bosses and whatnot to play the next new thing. That's just me though. Gives them time to do the engine upgrade beforehand too.

Honestly I don’t feel like that’s enough time for them to push out aberration, I literally said out loud that I expect 3 months minimum and sept 4 is like 5 days more than two months. Ab is a lot of inter connecting/ clipping terrain pieces, water, visual effects and lighting, as well as multiple areas of environmental damage (spores areas and rad zone, plus the surface during the day) and I really just want them to release something solid. Two different games I play are going through this UE5 upgrade, one being Ark and the other being a MOBA called Smite and while the two games are obviously vastly different it’s not hard to see how the two different development philosophies are affecting the reception of games, Smite has half a dozen dev log shorts, sneak peeks into the new content and generally being very transparent and most importantly they’re taking advice and ideas from the community. One content creator said instead of the crowd control immunity basic item as the universal active they should make blink rune (a short teleport item) into the universal active since it can have more counter play and skill expression and in this weekend’s beta test they actually did it, granted the CC immunity and blink can be swapped for each other in spawn. Meanwhile it really feels like WildCard are being held at gun point by Snail to tell the community as little as possible and to show large profits, that second part I think prompted the creation of the pyromane

Kinda happy about the delay. I play on official servers and while i love starting with nothing on a new map, i need a decent break in between. A new map every month to a month and a half is too soon lol. But i can't wait for abb. Definitely my favorite story map.

Absolutely agree with everything you said here. I have been playing unofficial recently because I didn’t really feel like dealing with the usual official stuff crashes/rollbacks/low render distance/ high ping for the center. But in all honesty it just doesn’t hit the same as official, like none of it matters since the rates are higher and the server can be shutdown if the owner ever feels like it.

I’m happy for the release to be pushed back. It’s not by much anyway. Though with the date being pushed back, I am expecting the map to look beautiful. I hope they don’t take too much of the magic of aberration away. I feel that since the launch of Scorched earth, wildcard has been doing not too bad with releases. 3 official maps to play on, and there’s the more maps too. So lots to do now.

Sept release works for me. I have only beaten Gamma on the center and finding it hard to collect Spino sails needed for the other two levels. They seem to be a rare spawn in my game. So, Sept gives me the time to finish the map here on the center. I am liking the Center, I never played it on ASE so it all new to me.

I think it's good that it's coming in September, I want to enjoy a map and don't want to rent more than one server, especially since you do other things than just hang out in a game. So you can take your time and enjoy it. And I'd rather wait months for a map than nag about it and end up with something unfinished. There are still people behind everything, not machines.

All things considered, the gap between story map releases will keep widening as Genesis P1 was noticeably larger than the original 4 story maps, and Genesis 2 was absolutely colossal. If the gap has already widened to 5 months with Aberration, then surely by the time we get to Genesis this will increase to 6-7 month waits, which I estimate would push Gen2 into 2026.

Aberration date was 100% expected. I've always said that it takes them 5-6 months per map and that's why it will take equal time as it did with ASE to remaster the content...aka 4+ yrs. Btw, I doubt this part of Bob's tall tales will have a creature as the Blimp will be the equivalent of the Oasisaur. The Blimp will no doubt borrow heavily from how you built ships in Atlas and I doubt they would just confine it in a single map area. After all, how would you build it and then fly it to the surface? You can't build on the surface... unless they change the surface mechanics too.

Since we're now three maps deep into this remake, any hope for significantly expanded areas is borderline unrealistically optimistic. WildCard might blow us away with a bigger Aberration, but I think it will be the same. Balancing is no longer a priority in ASA so just having mechanical Quetzals in the caverns of the broken ARK is at this stage 90% likely.

I'm still on ASE but have been keeping up to date with ASA in hope of switching someday. So far, I have little motivation to switch if I could. This delay means ASA will not have all 12 maps until about 2027, which is disappointing. If it needs more time, then fine but ASA needs a win big time with Aberration, this doesn't help.

I'm going to be honest... Other than the volcano area not looking ashy enough the center is fine. ASE players got on some kind of Nastalgia goggles cause ASE used the same assets and colors over and over too until Genesis and Aberration LBH.

my only personal pet peeve was that compared to the canon maps the center's terrain sculpting was incredibly sloppy like the rocks are basically a blank yellow texture and every piece of terrain is this giant block of cheese full of holes

I dabbled in map making back in ASE, At the time my PC wasn't up to the workload of UE4. But now I got 64GB ram, a 7800x3d, 11TB all m.2 and a 4080 super. So meh, why not. Won't be releasing as a paid mod because of tax related costs( I can only write off my accounting fees as a company, and I'm not privy to making an ark as a business requiring the Business license for UE5, yea it snowballs). Donations, however are not taxed as an individual and thus save me the hassle of operating a business as an individual. Paid mods=Business and taxes

knowing wildcard, the blimp will be a base that is somehow immune to the sun and sits high above the dangers of the surface. at this point i wouldn't be surprised if it had a tractor beam for supply drops lol i expected a massive delay with aberration, though very disappointed as im already bored with the centre i did expect it, think i will just put ark down till aberration releases in September..... 2025 lol
