I ended up with two toolboxes of free tools myself that were my grandfathers about to be thrown out. I was the only person to take the time to dig through them and clean the grease and rust off and sort through them to even see what they were. Turns out it paid off. I found some antiques and some very rare finds. A couple worth mentioning were a batwing style c clamp,vintage Mac breaker bar,a indexable adjustable wrench that’s patent dated 1916,a very rare Snap On ratcheting adapter for a breaker bar which is patent approved in 1923 and my style is the second version of the 4 they released. If it stamped patent pending it’s a pre 1923 and I’ll have to clean it up some more but it appears it may be. I also found a few antique snap on extensions and some old SK,Williams,bluepoint,snap on and some Chicago made stuff. Cool thing is it’s all vintage American made stuff.

I know it’s old, but wowsa ... huge score on these tools .. Ashley’s right, hundreds if not thousand dollars worth of tools there. Restores your faith in mankind when someone can give away stuff he wasn’t using to help someone else out, even if you only ended up keeping a fraction of what he gave, it must have been a very nice addition to your tools It’s amazing your eye and ability to recognize stuff ... that thing you didn’t know what it was, but said “some kind of shaper or anvil”, you were right - it is an auto body shaper.

Wow what a haul! The little pruning shears only need a small coil spring in-between the handles to open on their own. Some of those large wrenches and sockets can be very expensive. I was an industrial mechanic and some of my speciality wrenches were over $35 for one. You should have plenty of wrenches now! lol Phil
@diyfferent7 жыл бұрын
Yea, we are totally loaded with wrenches. We will probably just keep 2 of each size and get rid of the rest. Glad we got those pruners since we didn't have any yet, and they were made it Italy, which is neat. It was a crazy haul!

so awesome!!! I am going on my craigslist now to look around. We usually only go when looking for something but it be great to look for things to flip. By the way, Doug says that's a Bucking Bar. It's used to set rivets. You place the bar on the tail side of the rivet to shape it as the head of the rivet is being hammered.

It's really weird that we saw that ad on there since normally our Craigslist is dead. You never know what will pop up on there I guess. Thanks!

Hey Doug did you know that if you take any Craftsman tool to Sears or where ever you can find a Craftsman seller, you simply walk in with no receipt and they will exchange the old for new. I did it once just to see and I walked out with out paying anything. The beauty is, is that it comes with its original packaging which you can re sell.
@diyfferent6 жыл бұрын
Yea, it's a super cool service they offer. We have never done it though, but we'll keep it in mind if we ever need to. :)
@RandolphRelicRecovery7 жыл бұрын
S C O R E! The rounded metal chunk might be a backing block for pounding out dents in sheet metal (fenders, etc). It looks like you might have at least a couple thousand $ worth of tools. I especially like the pipe wrenches that can be used for plumbing around corners! Actually, they were probably bent from putting a piece of pipe on the handle to get more leverage.
