As soon as we arrived in Manila, we were invited to a surprise party in Pampanga, Philippines! We should have known we would immediately be invited to a family event when we first arrived to the Philippines, because Filipino hospitality is unmatched! This is Nicole's first time going to a Filipino party in the Philippines, and we were so excited to experience a true Filipino party complete with karaoke and amazing Filipino food!
We were invited to this party on our first day in the Philippines; before we even had the chance to explore Manila! Getting to the party was a bit of a journey though. To get there, we had to take the Manila metro a few stops before getting on a local bus to Pampanga, Philippines. Pampanga is North of Manila, and is where some of our family lives in the Philippines. After getting off the local bus, we were picked up by my cousin and brought to the party house to meet more of the family!
One of the best parts about Filipino parties is the food! Pampanga is famous for its sisig, which is a traditional Filipino dish made from lots of different parts of a pig's head. The ears, nose, cheeks, tongue, etc. all get cut up, cooked, and seasoned perfectly before being served at parties just like this one. Nicole tried sisig for the first time at this party, and you'll have to watch the video to see what she thought of eating Pampanga's famous sisig!
If you have heard anything at all about traveling to the Philippines, it probably has to do with karaoke. Filipinos are famous for their love of singing (fun fact: I sang to Nicole at our wedding in front of 150 people), and no proper Filipino party is complete without a karaoke machine being brought out. To truly become part of the family, Nicole knew she would have to sing a few songs, and she made me so proud when she confidently took the mic and became an honorary Filipina.

======================
Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we'd be making travel vlogs on KZfaq, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.
