I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well kzfaq.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

Nice to see some rods that make sense available. I have been shopping for a couple dedicated catfish rods since I have been doing more catfishing lately. 95% of what is out there seems like overkill. These companies are just rebranding deep sea party boat bottom fishing rods. I have tried those out with friends and just don't like them and don't see the necessity in them. I have have always just used my old 7'+ medium heavy bass rods and they have worked just fine except for when I want to go up to 4 oz in weight. They limit me to 2-3oz sinkers. I caught a 65# blue from the bank with an old 7'6" heavy action flippin stick with no problem. When I came across these so called "bumping" rods I chuckled because they are the basically just old school heavy bass flippin sticks with a slower action.

According to my MDC fishing app fish, fish guide info. a bluecat "never" has the dark spots. Also, if I counted properly, your fish has 28-29 rays on the anal fin. They list 30-35 for a bluecat & 24-29 for a channel. I won't say you're wrong, but I'd say it's a nice size channel as opposed to a relatively small blue! Thanks for the videos, you do a great job.

I like the Shakespeare catfish rods. Med heavy and white. Caught a 30lb blue the other day and that rod bend was epic! Only $40 rods, but well worth it.

I usually hold my pole w my left hand, so I guess it wouldn't be too hard to use my right hand w the net. Too many years of close-faced reels. I switched my handles on my spinning reels. Lol.

Hey if you turn the A scope on in 2D it will show at the bottom of the A scope how wide the beam is at the bottom. It can be nice to know if the beam is 4ft or 20ft wide.
