Mosquitos - try Avon Skin so Soft spray, it's not an insect repellent BUT it has great reviews as a mosquito repellent. I'm usually an all you can eat buffet, I never get bitten when I wear it.

I didn’t say anything as didn’t want to appear rude but I did think the first house looked a bit grubby. Glad you got sorted quickly though, it’s so stressful when things aren’t right! I hope you managed to have a fantastic rest of your stay and no more pesky mozzies!!

What a shame about that villa; glad you got a refund without a hassle. The girls seem to be loving the pool though. All of these towns and villages are really charming, it looks as if this is going to be an amazing experience for all of you.

Make sure you treat your luggage for bed bugs when you get home, they have a habit of “hitch hiking” and can be a nightmare to get rid of. Hopefully the rest of your holiday goes better x

StPaul de Venice is very touristy but absolutely beautiful. It’s not far from where you are. Go to a pharmacy for your mosquito repellent!

Loving the video the first red flag was the cigarette Butt's the second was pine tree needles on the loungers and the last one is the next morning with all the bites which I bet were bed bugs.

So, so sorry Nick and Leigh that you and Jeannine and girls first villa was horrible it’s not nice. After going to Florida for over 30+ years We had an issue in a villa in Florida first time encountering an issue it was last year. The oven was dirty, the microwave was very sticky, the dish washer was so disgusting we washed everything before we could use it, all washed up by hand. Our shower curtain had mould stains on it. The air-con had issues but the didn’t believe us, during the day it didn’t work then about 9 at night it would come on and freeze. When the light went on at night the kitchen and light in the lounge bit got covered in insects. We complained about it but couldn’t be moved. I complained every nights dreading what we would go back to after a night out. Maintenance guys tried to say we kept leaving the patio doors open, yet we were out most days until 7. My holiday was ruined the first time we could afford 14 nights I wanted to go home the same week. Next time fly drive and will do what Nick and Leigh do, air b n b. Sorry you guys had a horrible experience even worse for you as you are in France and don’t speak the lingo ❤️❤️

I don’t blame you at all for moving from the villa, considering how unclean it was, and maybe even more so because of the lack of air-conditioning. The only part of France I’ve ever been to is Paris, and that was over 45 years ago, but this looks like quite scenic area. It is funny that you seemed to have so much trouble finding French food in France!

You must not have mosquitoes where you live in the UK which amazes me since you get so much rain. Here in the south of the US we have to have a company spray monthly but it still doesn’t put a dent in the mosquitoes. That are the scourge of the earth!

I noticed the stain on the duvet right away. We had the worst airbnb in Dublin. 400 euros a night for a two bedroom and it was so bad. If you write a review that is bad they write back that you were horrid. I am glad you got to move. Mosquitoes, were like that in Florence. No screens on the windows and the air con was not allowed on till June. We were there middle of May and hot. I am allergic and swell up so bad. I guess they don't spray like Florida. We are afraid of getting West Nile virus and heartworm in our dogs plus encephalitis. I live that ocean.

TBH, when I saw yesterdays video I saw loads of marks all over the bedding and the walls looked grafted and the microwave was yellow and faded and it looked really run down and a bit of a sh*t hole. .. Glad to see you guys have found somewhere better!

That is great the owners were willing to refund you! We rented a houseboat in Key West a few years ago. Like you were initially wowed by being in the middle of the ocean but the last straw (after finding mold on the curtains,fans and outdoor seats, missing outdoor seating, broken kitchen stove replaced with a dirty propane grill) was the army pf cockroaches that cane out after dark. The owners had the nerve to fight it claiming that because they stated in the liating that it was not a hotel and not to expect that kind of experience. We werent expecting that but the cleanliness,missing features and bugs is just outrageous. AIRBNB wouldnt refund us either even after showing them the pictures. We left early and checked into a hotel anyway

I use Avon’s original only scent to stop bugs from biting me. Maybe you have it in England?
