Engine" I think that's the brand on the cover of Hot rod around 1971 with D.O.H.C.& 4 valves / cylinder)/ ANYWHO , The wicked engines in the tractor pulls ( Like Yours) needed more oil directed at the rockers , so they built a tube to do the job . I guess they were pleased with the results. I think it had something to do with the speed the the arms move with ratio when the power comes on so fast . Good Luck James T, Burke

I wonder if something is dimensionally [or metallurgically] soft with the heads, allowing odd movement that mimicks a lobe grind being a little too radical for the spring serving it? Lash caps popping off mid run does evil things. Well, all that and two bucks buys a cup of coffee - good luck, and looking forward to the next run.

Extra boost holding the exhaust valve shut ? Why is that? Boost on the inlet side would not hold the exhaust valve closed. By the time the exhaust is trying to open, combustion should be completed (almost),
