These sisters are two different people. At their age they need to sell the house, split the proceeds and each go their own adult way. If they renovate, they can still sell the house and for more money, possibly getting back their renovation costs. Giving up their childhood home may be an emotional transition, but they are now adults who should be mature enough to let that go.

@Virginia Moss I feel like you've missed a couple of things looking at these funny and lovely sisters. 1) Their parents living in CA. They're going to be a whole lot happier, and have fewer worries, if their young daughters are living together 2) By purchasing a condo together, they will split the costs and monthly maintenance fees 3) they are still young women (one said 25 years), building their careers and financial independence. They've only just repaid their student loans, so now is a great time to consolidate for their financial futures by sharing their home 4) I also felt like they shared a cross-over friendship group, and enjoyed entertaining together. They provide companionship and security for each other at this stage of their young adult lives. The "compromise condo", 20 minutes by subway to Downtown, was a great choice, with no renovation work needed. I hope it worked out well for the two of them. They got brilliant assistance from _________? and Robin.

She might have wanted to eliminate the car altogether and just walk everywhere she needed to go frequently. Finding parking while out and about and a place to keep a car in a big city is more hassle than it's worth. That's why few people in New York City own cars.

I’m “only” 20 minutes from work too but with parking and subway time, I arrive in the room I need to be in 1 hour and 10 minutes from when I step out of my door. Yes, the subway ride is 16 minutes, but you have to get there early to not miss the train and you have to park. It’s 15 minutes for driving to the train station (it’s “only” down the block, but bc of parking is longer). This is already half an hour, then add another 10-15 minutes for walking to my office from the subway station, and I like to be 10 minutes early, so add 10 more minutes. Compare this to the condos two streets away from my office building.

If I were them, I would split the sale money and move to my own place, even if that means renting for a bit until I can afford to purchase anything. I was not impressed with the finishes. The dark countertop did not go well with the cabinets. The dark curtains were not appealing and the couch placement was odd. Of course the property was improved with the deep cleaning and lightening up of the tables. Perhaps this decorating is more appealing to a mans perspective.

My mommy gave me a house but I dont like it. Let me find ways to be completely self entitled. There are people without houses that would be grateful. Those sisters are low lifes.

Not really. They are transitioning into adulthood, appreciative of their good fortune and trying to make the best decision possible for them together. It may not work out, but all young people make decisions, good or bad, that inform their future success.
