That’s amazing how fast your hair grew! I’m happy for you! But as far as the straight hair growing from your roots with your natural curl texture, maybe it could be from the silk press.

I believe the straight strands are normal (personally I've got a TON especially at the centre of my head). I think it's something most naturals have and not something to be worried about. You can give the protein treatment a try to see if it helps. Good luck!

Don't worry the random straight pieces are completely natural! I just cut my hair in February of this year after heat training and my hair was in the same state. You have to go through multiple washes, treatments, and dustings/ trims. The straight pieces will eventually correct after a few trims🙌🏾

Hey babe, I had same heat damage as well and big chopped in 2017. Post heat damage is actually a very crucial stage of your hair journey. I suggest you consistently moisturize, deep condition weekly and cowash weekly as well. Shampoo only with sulphate free shampoos. Invest in curly hair products like shea moisture at the least to encourage healthy curl pattern. Also I understand the scare after heat damage lol I had it too but let me tell you heat damage only happens due to poor techniques (excessive heat). When you get your hair to a healthier state, you could actually safely straighten your hair again. I finally did a straightening last year and got no heat damage. Tips for that is I did protein treatments with regular “strengthening conditioners” monthly for 3 months before that time, also used my own professional heat protectant (the brand I used isn’t in Nigeria but Cantu also has a very good high rated one), also made sure to instruct to blow dry on a medium heat setting then straighten with only one pass. This was hard because Nigerian stylists are very ignorant and lazy about hair, but you just have to talk without care because it’s your hair that will get damaged at the end of the day. You could also try doing it yourself if you can but make sure to watch multiple videos for guide on how to safely straighten your hair.
@deborahboms
@deborahboms Жыл бұрын
What exact protein treatment did you do?
@anulikah
@anulikah Жыл бұрын
@@deborahboms I did mention I use “strengthening conditioners” meaning conditioners that promise to strengthen. Brands I recommend is Mielle babassu deep conditioner, carols daughter monoi conditioner, Camille rose algae renew deep conditioner. I use them only whenever I feel my hair needs strength like probably once a month, but regularly I use moisturizing conditioners instead. Also trim at least once in 3 months to keep your curls overall healthy and popping. I do 6-8 weeks personally but 3 months is fine. Also make sure to trim above damage. Naptural85 has a video on how to trim curly that has helped me through my journey. Hope this helps you 💗

I big chopped seven years ago. I have worn box braids, never longer than bra length. But my hair dresser doesn’t braid tightly. No breakage. I have also stopped using high heat on my hair, which has been the best decision for me. I just use a Rev Air, hooded dryer or a light blow dry. I now recognize that high heat is the devil for my fine, but highly dense 4a hair. I’m content to never know the true length of my hair. My hair is now as thick as during my childhood and roughly bra strap length, despite several smaller cuts during the last seven years. This is the right choice for me. You’ll find the best options for yourself.

As a natural hair stylist since 2003 and a daughter of a hair stylist ( my Dad) all my life. There are so many stages goes through. Please, don't stress so much over your hair. Some people have multiple textures in one head. The left side can be straighter than the right, vise versa. Some have straighter hair in the back versus the front. Some people hair grow faster on one side versus the other...I can go on an on. Give your hair more time. Give it at least a year. If they will curl back they will. After a year if those straight pieces are still straight ..that's fine too. As, long as your hair isn't thinning, breaking from the root or not growing from the scalp at all ie. (alopecia). Just let it be its ok, just relax. Also, speak what u want into existence for your hair and always have gratitude. Peace🥰

It’s normal for some naturals to have multiple hair types. Some people have different hair stands on different sections on their head.

Our hair sheds daily so with it being in a protective style so long it all comes out at once when you take it down. Just chill and be nice to yourself.

I got some heat damage last year from the roots down and i decided i was gonna grow it out and my relationship with my hair changed so much. I was past bra strap length and the hair dresser destroyed my hair! I just kept doing protective styles and neglected my hair just because it was hard to look at and the different textures were so difficult. I am tempted to cut them off but I have done a mini chop before and I know the short hair struggles of having to pre plan hairstyles and the weird awkward length when it grows out of the cut, isnt the cutest... but I am back on my journey I have been slacking tbh and my hair has suffered for it...especially my edges... I'm like an inch from waist length now so cutting off the damage is hard, I've decided I'll just grow it out and after consistent trimming i'll be back fully healthy. I want to try the aphogee treatment before I cut it tho Love your videos! and so excited for your journey!

@Daniella The same thing happened to me in January, my hair was 4 inches from my waist. And the stylist at the salon destroyed my hair so badly she had to cut it to my shoulders 😭 I bought aphogee and olaplex to maintain the rest of my hair. They have made a big difference in that my hair is coming out anymore and looks healthier. I still have straight strands but at least my curls seems to be coming back after monthly usage of both products.

Have you tried passion twists with passion twist hair? I like it a whole lot better than knotless because the hair is super lightweight and you don't need to much for a thicker looking twist (I only need two strands of hair per section!) It doesn't last as long (naybe 3 weeks?) But it's quick and worth it!!❤️

Hi, thanks goodness that I've found someone who have experienced something like this. I never had damage before but at the beginning of my hair journey I had straight hairs with little 3a curls which was always mistaken for relaxed hair but now that my hair has grown to shoulder length my hair is no longer growing straight hairs from the roots it's now mostly 4b and 4c hairs. Seriously I've been worried for months and I've been looking for possibly solutions but now am just going to let my hair be and do its own thing

I don't use heat on my hair often, but I do have some strands of straight hair. It's possible it's just the way some of our curly/coily hair grows? Not 100% sure. edit: I've never used any relaxers or done a big chop.
