As I am such an old man now, it warms my heart to see a young man, so well spoken. Stella I’m sure I’m not the only one thanking this, but he seems like a keeper.

I was so relieved when you started hiking with Coyote and Lefe, although you were a very strong hiker, it was nice to know you had these fine young men hiking with you just in case you needed a little support. And like he said , you are such a cheerful and delightful young lady, anyone would love to hike along with you. Coyote and Lefe are forever famous for hiking with Stella, my alltime favorite hiker.

Incredible interview. Leffe is a true gentleman. You're both very lucky to have found each other in this hike and I hope you remain lifelong friends.

I don;t know how the future looks for you two, but know you will always be friends.. Leffe has a great demeanor behind the camera, if Hollywood discovers him say goodbye to sailing... what I love is how the smiles become so big and bright when you two interact.

Leffe is the great dude. Got to know him in VA and shared a few meals in Damascus while I dealt with shin splints. It’s fun to watch people I’ve met on trail and videos from the same year. Now I’m home I’m going to make an attempt to catch up on yours and others videos… once I stop waking up all night and dreaming about hiking in rain.

Amongst other things my Dad did in his 37 years in the military is he designed and started the Sea Marshal program in the Coast Guard. The TSA also studies his training material. For Leffe to have that job means he likely has a military background and the authorities have 100 percent confidence in him. It takes a great deal of mental and physical to do and stay in that line of work. Respect to Leffe!

With so much negativity in the world today. It’s an inspiration to follow your vlogs Stella. You popped up on my feed in late February or early March. I subscribed and got caught up on videos. Then you became a part of my daily routine. I loved your infectious laughter and positivity. I am captivated by the Appalachian Trail. As with all things people make the difference, the hikers and trail angels, maintainers ,hostel owners, shuttle drivers and others. These people prove that we need each other’s support. Together we can accomplish anything. Good luck to you and future endeavors. Good luck to Leffe and Coyote. They also are special young men and salute to them for being gentlemen. I'm so glad you had each other to hike with on the trail, as you made a good team. Perhaps you two will make a good team OFF trail too! (?) I think this is what some of your viewers are hoping!!

It’s amazing that you hiked through all of Pennsylvania without taking a zero but I would recommend combining a zero day with a little fun excursion to a nearby waterfall/swimming hole for cold water soaks as well as a much needed R & R and a break from the trail. For example, excellent opportunities for cold water soaks exist at Hackers Falls and Tumbling Waters Falls in the Delaware Water Gap area. The AT goes right by the Allenberry Resort in Boiling Springs. SPLURGE for 1 night, swim in their pool, get their famous sticky bun and espresso and relax, dip your feet in the yellow breeches river. Believe me, you’ll be rejuvenated and re-charged for the journey ahead. Same goes for Hot Springs NC. Book an hour at the Hot Springs Resort for a soak overlooking the French Broad River and feel free to jump in the river for hot/cold water therapy. In Elk Park NC There’s Elk River falls right off the trail, a classic swimming hole and a great place to take a zero. Overall Run Falls in Shenandoah,I could go on and on but my point is it’s just as important to SCHEDULE ahead of time your zero days as it is to schedule supply pick-ups, but furthermore, make them creative,fun, therapeutic/rejuvenating and not just a necessity based on sheer exhaustion.

I kept wondering what you would have done with all those bugs in Maine if you hadn’t had his tent to hide in. I was always kind of shocked you didn’t take an actual tent with you if for no other reason but to escape from the bugs.

I am also glad you hiked Maine together. It gave you the resolve to conquer the water crossings and Katahdin! You finished just in time. Others are leaving the trail because it’s so difficult and dangerous !

Oh, this is such a cool video! I always wondered about Leffe’s story and how he decided to do a flip-flop. It’s always fun watching a novice growing and becoming a veteran. And - I’ve been backpacking at Enchanted Rock! I also went through the cave there. (The cave is cooler than the backpacking there.) I’ve been backpacking at Big Bend NP & Guadalupe Mtns NP, too. The backpacking there is more scenic, but the drag is that you have to carry all your own water! Water is HEAVY!

It was great to see Leffe with you again and hear more about him. I hope you get to keep in touch in the future, you seem to both get along so well.

Good stuff. The hike north out of Palmerton is a monster workout. Going south is not as bad heading south is not too bad. I use to take care of the Overlook Outerbridge Shelter there as a maintainer.

A ladybug landing on you is totally lucky! I reacted the same way when one landed on me recently too. Even if that one wasn’t one though, if you BELIEVE it is, that’s good enough 😂

I was just at Enchanted Rock 2 weeks ago. It was only 98 degrees with no wind. Brutal ... We practiced at Enchanted and Lost Maples for our through hike in '95. Nothing close, in Texas, to the approach trail to Springer. An eye-opening beginning. Ya'll are awesome. So ...Continental Divide next for you 2 after the completion of the AT? Enjoy your journey's and let the shadows fall behind you.

Leffe, you are a great guy, good luck on the rest of the trail. Be careful though, PA can have snow/sleet in November. SOmetimes a lot. Stella, I am glad the two of you met on the trail and were able to hike for such a long time together. I hope you stay good friends and hike again together. Great video blog today . Is trail name Lefty or how is it spelled. For us want yo be Thru Hikers hearing his story as how he started out on the hike & early on changes to equipment & shorter distances versus your story was helpful. I’m still amazed to keep hearing that so many AT Thru hikers start out solo.
