Last year we finally made our dream come true! We finally both bought our own Rockstead knife as a cherry on top of our knife collection. Although we tested a third one which was half the price we didn't dare to use our own Rocksteads.... however... even though it's basically a piece of art, a knife is made to be used first. So today is finally the day that we
bring these kings to the field for some real world use!

Well my $10 Mora carved without chipping and I use it all the time without hesitation or fear, but hell, I'd have no issues to pay the extra $3,600 to get a knife that looked that beautiful. Sarcasm aside, loved that you guys used it, it's what the knife would have wanted.

I received my garberg this week with some chips on the micro bevel. I stropped it and it was better but the chips were bad still. I don't like to return things, so I redid the micro bevel at 27 degrees. Cuts paper now and carved with it a little. I like my mora a lot. I guess I will learn to love it after I use it more and forget my beginning with my first mora. My first knife I bought cost $4500. It's a part of knife history. So I started with the best I could🤣. Now my knives are $50 and under for the most part. I know if I had to use it to save my life, I would use it because I know it's a knife worth 4k. I love how these guys use a knife as a tool and test it's limits for us viewers/collectors.👍 ✌️🦁

@@leodegas7731 Consider to adjust the edge to a slight skandivex, or convex micobevel to help out the acute Skandi edge. Easy with a belt or just sand paper and mouse pad. It helps with chips and can be stropped back OK. The fun with Moras is that its way less scary to mod them and try them out given the price.

@@stuartb9194 thank you Stuart. I looked it up and most of the sites I found say that the micro bevel is 27 degrees. So I put a micro bevel on it on my Work Sharp sharpener . Thanks for confirming my actions. I do think it will help. I do like playing with it along with my folding knives as I watch KZfaq. A grown up fidget toy.🤣🤣🤣 Thanks again and have a great up coming weekend. ✌️🦁

I really like that you took these collectors wall hanger knives to an actual test. Somebody in the comments already mentioned Rolex and that is what I see here. A Rolex has status because it's expensive but it's not an accurate time keeper. A 15 dollar digital Casio does a better job at that. A 10 dollar Mora Basic 546 would not get this damage just from carving some wood. So to me this is proof these knives are status wall hangers and not user knives. I don't mind these collectors knives although I don't think Rockstead will ever get Rolex status.

Great that you guys do this. I had micro chips with many knives, also high end knives, but usually it gets better after sharpening. I think factory edges are often a bit brittle from there high speed sharpening. But with these Rocksteads I would expect better behavior.

The chips make sense using a steel like ZDP-189, it’s got like 3% carbon, and the hardness is from mostly chromium carbides so the carbide volume in that blade has to be huge.

@@CobraKaiNoMercy I thought same. Have you guys heard of the Mad Dog Seal ATAK knife ? It won the Seal Trials test in 1992 and the Navy Seals swear by it. Apparently it holds a good edge because it's made of 01 tool steel and edge is hardened to 62Hrc and the rest of the knife hardened to mid 50hrc to achieve toughness. Looks like a really well designed full flat ground knife. Would love to see a test on your chanel.
