I love how this is basically still the tutorial teaching you all the different game/combat mechanics, but Tom just expertly ignores every instruction the game offers and just runs into fights blindly swinging his weed sack.

The cosmic horror hippie cult theme really reminds me of the movie The Endless. I recommend it if anyone's interested in weird, low-budget sci fi stuff. Also, Black Mountain Side. Less cults, more archaeologists and horror themes, but very good .

As soon as I saw our protagonist drinking tea without pausing I knew they were in for a bad time. When Cult Boss mentioned it was 'sacred tea' and would 'open our third eye' I understood it was surprise drugs. Be responsible hippies. Make sure you're giving/receiving things where everyone knows what's in. Tom and Lydia just talked about drinking kool-aid and falling over yo, and bam. The dood we're rooting for just necks what was in front of her straight out.

I really like the crazy aliens / psychic effects - the whole 80’s crystal science conspiracy vibe turned evil psychic cult is really cool and really well done. … although it’s not at all scary, and the enemies are clearly there to be selectively beaten up, ala Resident Evil.
