Regarding GX, there are few options with what to go for. -remain as it is, Rare Hunters -shadow raiders. Their goals are similar, but different. One wished for lover, another for youth, another for playthings? Now they weren't after the cards, but keys that held the sacred beasts in prisoned. -working for Chazz? In 2nd episode Chazz challenged Jaden to a duel, where the loser had to give their best card to the winner... Like what you're doing! -society of light! Brainwashed like some Rare Hunters. Their goal is to convert everything to the light and follow Sartorius. The arc where light=bad basically. Any other will change this drastically... I guess.

Ah, to spice it up you can have a revenge match up. Let's say duelist A lost to duelist B. In next part, duelist A can request a revenge match to win the card they lost. But only once for same card, it has to be the next episode and if they fail, it's duelist B's card from now on. And you can only request that if the card was originally yours, to avoid back and front matches for same card at stake.

Hahah yes! I made the same mistake back in the day. When Horace those six says he's unaffected by any spell cards that includes your own! So yes it should have stayed at 2,300 power

Paul also could have killed Solar Flare with Armed Dragon cos SFD’s protection only works if the player that controls it has other Pyro monsters

Paul nearly always loses it seems like because Alec just literally gets strictly better cards. It's becoming boring seeing Man-Eater Bug and Trap Hole over and over and over again defining games.

Oh man, this set is so nostalgic. I remember playing with counterfeit cards with my cousin. Our neighbor was older than us and had a job, so he could afford to buy original cards (original cards to us were virtually impossible to get, only the rich kids had them). He had a beautiful foiled Lvl dragon deck and always kicked our butts, but even when losing just to have a chance looking a those cards was amazing. He was like our hero, and now that I have a job and can afford my own original pimped Dark Magician deck, I feel accomplished haha thanks for the videos and the nostalgia, so much fun!

Man, these duels are surprisingly back-and-forth. You've managed to build very different, yet somehow more-or-less equally matched decks, which makes these videos much more entertaining. Honestly, it feels kind of like watching classic Yugioh anime; well themed decks, long drawn out duels where both players get their boss monsters out, and a surprise finisher right when the game seems decided. I click for the pack opening, but I stay for the duel every time!

AWW YEAH! My FAVORITE (friendly) rivarly is back! Paul vs Alec! I swear, you guys make Yu-Gi-Oh! fun to watch again. I don't play anymore myself, but golly gee, all of y'all are just amazing. I always watch you guys whenever I play a game on steam whether it be Minecraft, Sigrogana Legend, a Paradox game like Stellaris. Explaining the cards, the anime drama in the game, and such really makes the duel more fun to watch than a Tourney match. Keep it up y'all, and thank you guys for the content!

Alec really grew from man eater bug flipper to a pyro burning user. i love it that he has a theme now since most rare hunters have them. Hope paul gets a more themed deck too. (If he does already then my bad. i don't know that much of yugioh)

Armed Dragon LV5 could've defeated LV6 Horus, since Horus is unefected by spell cards it stayed at 2300 ATK. But then again when Ekibyo destroyed Solar Flare, Backfire should've dealt another 500 in this duel, which would lead to an even sooner end..so it probably didn't matter in a long run.

If Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 is unaffected by spell effects then he's also unaffected by Molten Destruction cause that is a spell effect.

Hey guys - regardless of the molten destruction mishap, Paul could have activated book of moon in Alec's end phase to flip over his solar flare dragon. Alec would not have been able to flip it back up, since it is past his M2. Paul only needed to normal summon a monster to win the game from there. Please upvote so they can see.

Thanks for going through the older sets and showcasing them in your duels. While there were a few misplays here and there, the duel itself was pretty on point with what we had at the time. Loving the commentary on specific cards as they came into the duels and inserting the Jinzo animation was epic!

The contrast in strategy is super fun! Paul going for a more generic really good cards while Alec is playing a fire theme which Horus fits in pretty neatly! Wouldn’t mind Alec using this for the next episodes until a new strategy presents itself

Really liked the explanations in between some of the plays. I haven't played Yu Gi Oh for a long time but I love this series because I get to see the cards I used to play with. Thoughts behind the plays are edited in really well and makes this series even more enjoyable than it already is (somehow.)

turn player priority always existed its just priority also exist for certain effect at this time what this means if i am right is end phase alec would of gotten to make first move as it a open game state he delcare the effect of solar flare then paul could of chained book but at that point too late he still get burned and like paul said if he did it in main phase alec could of just reflipped it

@@Yugiohdeckmaster41 it’s not a priority issue though, it’s a procedural one. Any effects that occur at the end of turn, do so at the very end of the End Phase (after gameplay checks like hand size etc) so as nothing new was added to the field, no replay occurs and Book of Moon, at the start of the End Phase, flips Solar Flare Dragon down and stays down. I’ve not played this game since 2010/2011 so it could’ve changed since that time, I’m open to being wrong about it in modern rules.

LV monsters should had have their moment to shine in Duel Links, so it's pretty cool having them on the spotlight for at least one duel 😆. I've actually had a pyro/Horus deck back in the day too so loved what Alec went with today. Im 99% sure background music is Masafumi Takada but can't really pinpoint from where. No More Heroes maybe?

Alec seemed confused on what Pot of Greed did so I'll help him out. When you activate PoG, you need to put your left hand in. Then, immediately after this resolves, you must put your left hand out. After THIS resolves, you must put your left hand in again AND shake it all about. When that resolves, you must do the hokey pokey, turn around, declare "that's what it's all about", then draw 2 cards

Really loving the new graphics layout, it's clear and easy to watch. Also loving those interludes with card descriptions, there were just enough to break it up, but without interrupting the flow of the duel. This series is fantastic. I remember this set, it was one of the ones that came out just before I did my first hiatus from the game. I actually pulled an Armed Dragon Lv7 in those days and added it to the dragon structure deck that came out around the same time. Good times. Also, iirc that dragon deck and the zombie deck were the first structure decks to come out too, since before then the precons were basically themed around characters

Alec once again showing why the Fire Burn deck is one of the best of this era. Casual, simple to build but also deadly as a knife and beautifully designed in competitive Yugioh. Still let's give Paul a round of applause for channeling his inner Chaz by giving us a Duel Links perfect "Welcome Armed Dragon Level 5!" X3 Loved that. Also for using Dark Mimic which even my stupid fiend loving butt only did once before deciding the Lv3 is fine as fodder but nobody is getting the full combo off. XD Even in boom Yugioh. All in all a great duel all around!

the big misplay here was that as he entered end phase he could chain BoM to Solar Flare to cancel the effect as it's no longer face up to resolve the trigger.

He can't just Book it before it activates because the turn player gets to decide whether or not to use effects first and there is no reason for him to let it be Booked so it's going to be first in the chain 100% of the time here. It doesn't need to be face up on res. This kind of thing where you book or tribute something on the field that would otherwise be negated is how you get around a lot of effects like Lance, Veiler, or Skill Drain. Unless there is a specific condition that's not being met by not being face up on the field for resolution, it doesn't stop it. Another example off the top of my head because I've been looking into the archetype recently is Fortune Fairy Water. If it's special summoned and there is another Fortune Fairy on the field you can draw 2 cards. Say you only have Dark alongside that specialled Water. If they then respond to Water's effect by booking your Dark they have wasted a Book of Moon because you still draw 2 cards. In both cases, the condition for activation has been met and there are no further restrictions on it, so unless you can negate/modify the specific effect the resolution is handled normally. If, for example, Solar Flare Dragon said "deal 500 points of damage for every SFD face up on the field" then it would resolve without effect in this case but that is not, in fact, it's effect.

It is honestly so strange to hear this as a classic set. I remember getting so many of these packs on special occasions, I had all of the ultra rares mentioned at the beginning, I had 2 Horus? So wild how time flies.
