Keep the great videos coming! Every time I watch your channel it makes me want a Virus SW. I mentioned you at Oshkosh last week at the Pipistrel booth, I told them your videos are selling me on this airplane!

Thank you! Really appreciate your feedback. Excellent! Too bad they don't have any kind of referral program, but that's not why I do it, I love this aircraft and the company, can't say enough good things about them.

If it was "super" STOL and you could fit floats, it would be perfect. But, as in life, you just can't have it all. If i's a really good STOL, it WILL be slow and the range will be short(ish). Slap the floats on and it will become even slower with even less range and useful load. Simply put, these goals are contradictory, if not total opposites. But as a relatively fast and VERY economical long range land plane, Pipistrel is just about impossible to beat. The economy is the best in the world, meaning this is the greenest plane on the planet...not counting their electric glider.

Great video. Nice install of turlepac. Please have labels made for fuel pump switch and circuit breaker. You may be the only one to fly this a/c but just in case someone else flies or works they will know what they are for.

Dave E excellent suggestions. I have labelled the switches since airing this video!

Hello. How do I do what you do? :) I work with cameras every day, doing video and photography. Secondly. I would think a 35mm would be to wide a lens? How does this whole thing work?

I know you put this up years ago but I would highly recommend a check value to not allow back flow to the 912
@DarrylZubot2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I switch fuel tanks when I use the extended tank. So it cannot get air into engine. But this is actually something I still plan to do and move the bag to cargo bay.

You bet … I’m in Alaska And am planning to bring a Flex up here through Canada late this year I’ve been watching your videos to see what I might have happen in the interior of Alaska. Have you have and Cold Stress on the wings? Any other stress cracks ?
@DarrylZubot2 жыл бұрын
@@briancorty4348 Awesome! No I haven't had any cold stress. I have flown my aircraft down to -35ºC. Winter I remove wheel pants and put large tires on, and cover the air intakes with tape.

How’s the cabin heat ?
@DarrylZubot2 жыл бұрын

Is your mapping camera on some kind of gymbal or fixed? If it's fixed then how is the movement of three aircraft allowed for? Is it done in post with software to join the stills together?
@DarrylZubot3 жыл бұрын
Fixed, gimbals are over rated. Software is so good now, if you have good imu the software will know attitude of each image captured and take this into account.

Is there any way to increase the range with 2 people aboard? I mean, without using the space of one person to put the tank
@DarrylZubot5 жыл бұрын
You can buy the plane with 100, 180 or 300 litre fuel tanks in the wings.

Nice Video! How much extra Range does the fuel bag give you?
@DarrylZubot7 жыл бұрын
kniefi hey thanks! An extra 2.5 hours flight time or about 400km more distance.

Darryl Zubot So you actually get a 4gph burn rate? That's kind of awesome.
@DarrylZubot6 жыл бұрын
Yup! That's at cruising speed. If i'm flying slower it's around 2.6 gph

How much did that Turtlepak + install end up costing you?
@DarrylZubot6 жыл бұрын
The bag was about $1200 Can shipped, fuel pump $70, check valve $30, fuel line connectors and wiring about $50. I'll probably put a quick disconnect on the fuel line so add another $100 for that.

I enjoy almost every part of your videos except background music. It seems that video producers insist on using some sort of electro pop background noise which is very distracting. Is it for non-pilots? Does every video need background sound to minimize boredom for people with short attention spans ? I am a pilot and just the sound of the engine or some silence between your narratives is quite sufficient with the beautiful photography.
@DarrylZubot6 жыл бұрын
Robert Dryden hi there, thanks for watching the videos and sorry you find the music annoying, I will do my best to chose non annoying music unfortunately cannot please everyone, most feedback I get on the videos like the music.

Darryl, I agree, the music spoils an otherwise great video. I realize that you need to add it during the time lapse portions and I just mute it, but when you are talking it makes it more difficult to understand what you are saying. Also do you have a video where you included the pre-flight? I would like to see you do that.
@GMoneyMacFresh6 жыл бұрын
I think the music goes really well with the video :)

Don't the PIP BOYS, Manny, Moe and Jacques, offer a nice neat in-wing extended range fuel tank option? Seems I heard they do.
@DarrylZubot5 жыл бұрын
Never seen or heard of one, does it go in the cargo bay? They have long range wingtanks, that requires new set of wings, landing gear and probably some re-enforcements on the body of aircraft
@tribulationprepper7875 жыл бұрын
@@DarrylZubot I guess we are thinking of the same wing tank option which must be terribly expensive as a modification to an existing airplane. I guess your passenger seat bladder stays or you order a new Pip.

How did you get into aerial photography?
@DarrylZubot7 жыл бұрын
Started as a hobby blogging aerial pics during my studies in design and photography, gradually turned into work as I obtained my commercial pilot license.
@jrcolmena7 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you needed a commercial license, are you also a certified mechanic? I'm curious about the rules for installing a turtle-pac, in the US I am not sure if any layman can install it on an LSA, and even more in your case when is for a paid mission
@DarrylZubot7 жыл бұрын
drdanger yes need commercial license, cannot carry passenger or cargo for hire. Aircraft is registered under amateur built/experimental, I'm not certified mechanic but this aircraft is under owners maintenance. I believe you have category called e-lsa that would allow you to do your own maintenance in the US
@jrcolmena7 жыл бұрын
thank you! didn't realize you could do work for hire on a homebuilt, I think if I ever follow through on my dream to fly, a kit will be the only way I can afford it
@ssn6086 жыл бұрын
In the US, you don't need to be a licensed mechanic to work on an experimental aircraft, which a homebuilt would be. You do need a licensed mechanic to do annual inspections (actually called "annual condition inspection" on experimental aircraft) (unless you are the builder, AND have gotten a repairman certificate for the aircraft you built), so if you do... unairworthy ... work on the aircraft, it should not pass annual condition inspection until fixed. I think the rule is similar in Canada. At least that's my understanding. This is not legal advice,;check with the competent authorities in your own country.

There is no room left for your "old bag" to sit.
@jrcolmena4 жыл бұрын
Are you a certified mechanic? or can you do these installations on your own if you own an LSA (or its Canadian counterpart)
