We have done it again... We lost another drone in Hawaii! Sailing and droning, droning and sailing don't really go together, however Warren has been able to do a really great job as flying the drone while we are at sail, a task that has taken some time to master, until that fateful day in Kona, Hawaii.
On this episode, we salute to the mariner Captain James Cook as we leave Kealakekua Bay, honoring him of his navigational feats and memorialize his place of death along the Kona Coast in Hawaii.
Later, we sail up to Kailua Kona and struggle to find a safe and comfortable anchorage for a couple nights and also lose another drone to Neptune.

Love your channel. Incidentally, the Water World comment was apropos. Water world was filmed almost exclusively on the big island in kawaihae harbor and the final land scene in Waipio.

Lol…. I love the drone doctor scene! FYI…Insurance is really cheap and well worth it when flying over water on a regular basis.

Nope. It's a disrespect to the native hawaiians. Captain crook was a pirate.

Well at least the vital signs of the drone remained stable throughout the operation. I even thought you tried to fly it again after it turned on 😆

Swellpro splash drone ! International orange , water proof , and floats ! May not be quite as sharp as a DJI , but serviceable ! P.S. Slightly shorter flight time !

In future, put all the electronic parts, chips, etc immersed in rice. This will suck out all the moisture.

I once dropped my brand new phone in the toilet...don't ask. I did however leave it in a Tupperware container, submerged in rice overnight and it worked again after! For two years no less! :D Oh, the wonders of the internet! Try it, you have nothing to lose!

Buy the much cheaper DJI mini 1 or 2. It works just fine too, and do pretty good videos too, it will be hard to see the difference.

Captain Cook didn't turn out that great for the native Hawaiian's.... honor the locals instead
@WEsail

I agree, I hope, and think we still honored them too (think we did, the same way we also honor and respect the American Indians in our own country, and come to think of it- the “natives” in every country on earth since non of them has avoided invasion, right?

@@WEsail thanks for the meaningful reply. Literally the population at contact was around 624,000 and shrank to less than 25,000 with colonial diseases, explotive industry barren, etc... just saying. Plenty of recent long form media coming out of Hawaii detailing the tension around the tourist industry dependency.

We Hawaiians don't honor Captain crook. He tried to enslave and take ownership of the land and the people. This is where he met his demise. There's no such thing as Captain crook day. Only King Kamehameha day here. Bad luck. We honor the people of Hawaii. We honor Ke Akua O ka Aina. All gods of our land. From the water... it gives us life. From the land.. it gives us nourishment. Our King who brought unity to our islands. Instead of a cannon fire... offer a Ho'okupu.
@WEsail
@WEsail 2 жыл бұрын
Ya we completely understand, he wasn’t good for the future of Hawaii, and we of course do not agree with a lot of his methods, but we did choose to honor his courage for doing something no one else had ever done and for his general explorations… and at the same time we honor the Hawaiian people and culture for being able to retain their authentic life, principles, and culture

@@WEsail The Polynesians were one of the greatest explorers out there and did what no other people did. Captain crook falsely attained an honor that was already claimed a century prior. While he claimed lands and tried to prove to the world that he was a great sailor, the Polynesians did that years before he did. Yet he tried to conquer and claim what he had no right to. Therefore he lost. Hawaiian history is deeper than him. Research our King Kamehameha the first. And then you'll realize the goal he had for the islands. To become one. To respect all involved in making it a working society. Then came along the man who brought disease and wanted to enslave the care takers of the land. History runs through our veins. And the true navigational skills of our ancestors makes captain crook look like a noob wanting to own his own piece of land.

You probably lost the drone because of the bad juju honoring a man who was into human trafficking. You need to learn about their history. The United States literally stole theses islands from the Hawaiians. Learn some culture before you visit these sacred islands!
