Jars Shew I’m moving back to Jax this month. I left in 18 and I wished I never did. I was born in a landlocked state and I don’t like that. Love the water and I love how big it is. You can literally get lost. Not like unsure of direction but u probably won’t “run into” ppl u may not want to unless you live on the same street/area/neighborhood. It’s huge. Great economy. Logistics capital of America. Cost of living is great compared to down south (Miami etc). Big Navy base in Jax too. No state taxes!!!!!!!!!

So far my favorite things are the cost of living, the water, and the proximity to activities galore. There's so many nature trails and state and national parks within 30 minutes of me, the springs are amazeballs, and the weather is second to none. I spent most of my life in Missouri. We're cold six months of the year and the summers can actually be hotter than north Florida summers and just as humid. You don't get much time to be outdoors because it's just miserable.

Omg.... the water at the beach is so warm. I was tripping. The seafood was so amazing. I went over board. My cholesterol was sky high when I return to New York.

I moved to Jacksonville from S. Florida , and I personally think I made a big mistake. The only positive is cost of living is lower , but it sucks.

As a Jacksonville resident, i understand the sentiment. The city is really terribly managed. I honestly think the perspective is about where you come from. I think when you move from outside of Florida it's easier to appreciate Jacksonville. I have a friend in Hollywood Beach and I love visiting down there so I understand why you'd rather be there

Downtown really is a cool place to park and just walk around. Even when I was a teenager I used to run around downtown and the landing. RIP landing btw.

thank you for sharing this. You shared some things I didn't know from my research that I thought was cool (animal place). (greetings from Oregon). I love the beach scene. I grew up near the beach of Hawthorne, CA and moved to Oregon in the 80's til now and my family is looking to move to FL for many reason and those waves looks great for boogieboarding.

So I am really thinking about moving here. I remember driving past it on my way to Cocoa Beach, FL. It’s very pretty. Some people say it’s boring…I assume because it’s more of a family oriented city…not for singles or people who prefer the limelight. What’s your intake?

Honestly it depends on what you like to do. We enjoyed it however we don’t drink or really go out like that we just kinda chill all the time lol so I can’t speak on the side of life, however it was a nice and clam place where we went!

@@Saiyanblackx I wish I moved to Atlanta when I was a teenager when it wasn't as overpopulated. I love the fact that it's a city where black people tend to flourish and be great. I have friends trying to get me to move there as we speak actually. So between there, Jacksonville and Charlotte are my choices. Jacksonville is just an easy transfer with my job.

Thinking of taking a job there but they want me to commit to permanent transfer versus testing it out. So also wanted to know about the humidity in Jacksonville. Also are there bike trails or walking trails?

Now, I'm pretty sure that's one of those "animal sanctuaries" where they are technically taking the animals from people who are giving them up, but they keep them in really tiny cages and not at all what a rescue facility or a zoo would do. There's one near my house in Florida and it's the same deal. It's a real problem. There are tons of these places all over and we need to find a way to warm people to not give their money to these places. They do not treat the animals well. In the one near my house, a bear was just sitting in a very small enclosure holding on to the cage and rubbing his head back and forth across the bars. He had a big bald spot and welt on his whole forehead because he had obviously been doing this for YEARS!! 😱 AND LITERALLY NO ONE CARED.

ASHLEY RENEE I have been looking everywhere for if but I can’t seem to find it so I am not sure if she took the listing down, I’m sorry, but we stayed in the St. John’s Town Center are and it’s really nice around there so that’s where I would start. I hope this helps!
