Open Source/Freeware is the name of the game. GIMP is my go to, and I'm going to start learning a few other Adobe Alternatives.

You were a bit harsh on Affinity Photo. You need to give it another go. If I had left it to my first impression, I would not be using it now, but it's pretty brilliant and bloody fast compared to Photoshop, and I'm delighted I persevered. I only miss Photoshop's panorama stitching and nothing else. Starting new software is always tricky, but Affinity Photo is worth it.

At this point I'm more than happy with what GIMP and RawTherapee can do for free, so I won't get touching Affinity again
