For Part 2 of our Retrospective Review of Highlander 2, the Middle Aged Movie Boys talk about the various problems that went on behind the scenes whilst attempting to put together this movie.
From Argentina's film industry and it's economy being on it's arse at the time, to members of the cast and crew having 'recreational' issues and injuries as the production went on.
And if that wasn't enough, the Bonding Company that was in charge of the film's budget would step in before it could be completed and shut down production entirely, taking control of the final edit of the film, which turned out to be so bad that the original director asked to have his name removed from the credits!
Surprisingly, this wasn't the end of the Highlander franchise, as various different sequels, spin-offs and television series' would keep getting made and there's even been talk for several years of rebooting the franchise entirely!
And yes, the irony of having a review of a film where the catchphrase is "there can be only one" split into two parts is not lost on me. But, on the other hand, it's definitely on brand for this franchise
So, let's raise a glass to the chaotic mess that is Highlander 2. It's certainly a memorable ride, just for the wrong reasons entirely!
