No interest in prime but cube sauce on the other hand is worth it.

I guess the hope is that if prime sponsors a Rubik’s cube event then people who start cubing will associate it with things they know all ready for example Feliks and Max rather than with Logan Paul. For example for cubers that are starting out, I would show them the Netflix doc as it’s a great insight into the world of speed cubing. If they saw that then they would see it as what it is, much more than the ‘sport’ that Logan Paul’s company sponsored

It’s definitely complicated and imo the pros don’t outweigh the cons here. I hope it works out for Max and he gets good💰from this deal but I don’t think Logan Paul/Prime and cubing is a good fit. Prime is garbage and certainly not a drink that kids (and really anyone else) should consume but that’s exactly the demographic they are targeting with sponsoring Max. Logan Paul knows what he’s doing, which makes me dislike him even more. I’d prefer a sponsor that doesn’t risk the health of the community and helps cubing grow organically.

here's what I'll say the controversies do exist with logan paul as well with prime, but they won't really affect cubing at the end of the day. This brings awareness to cubing, and Max Park gets paid. This seems to be a long term sponsorship (not sure how long because that's not public info). And it's not like Max Park will be constantly promoting prime, most likely just he wears merch and drinks prime. With that said I like this video and how you talk about redbull's world cup and how it was great for cubing. Yes absolutely agreed it helped grow cubing only thing I will say was some stuff they did at the beginning was questionablwe, such as first choosing the name "world championship" which really made it compete with the WCA and cause issues. That caused cubers to kind of not be a huge fan of the event which in terms was a huge part that caused the event to start off with the wrong foot. If they collaborated with WCA, maybe they wouldn't necessarily need qualifiers, they could somehow host them in conjunction with normal competitions. At the end of the day, red bull was still good for cubing though. As you talked about, the weyer brothers went viral, it also showed that not every event needs to be through wca. It's something I'm sure future organizers of similar events can learn from . But now I want to talk about what killed red bull competitions. And covid was absolutely huge part of it as you talked about. Everyone was forced to use the rubik's connected smart cube or go cube to compete which was cool, but they fumbled that opportunity. Gan used the smart cube in their smart cube tournament and took advantage of it. Immediate reconstructions, and cool stats which Redbull/Rubik's failed to do. And at the end, I do like how you mention prime is dead. You're not wrong, prime is dying, but it's something that can also easily suddenly become "popular" again especially considering two very popular influencers are the one in charge of it.

The problem for Speedcubing with the whole Red Bull "thing" was that you had to be over 16yo to compete, which excludes top speedcubers. Why? The product is not suitable for children bcuz of the caffeine.
