I am holding to my hopes for Hotel Dusk / Last Window to be revived, seeing Another Code reminds me how much i love CiNG and how happy it makes me to see new people acknowledge that they made bangers back in the day

Fun fact. Another Code did the "close the DS" puzzle BEFORE Phantom Hourglass did it. Love both these games so much!! So happy you guys in the USA get to play the sequel at last! Can't wait to play these again! And Zion you share my dream of the Golden Sun duology (why not Dark Dawn too!)HD2D.

This was a game that I never thought I'd see again, because visual novels never really took off (outside of Ace Attorney), so it definitely made me happy to see both games remade for the Switch.

I loved how a LITTLE DETAIL was that she shared HER BIRTHDAY with you depending on your birthdate on your DS. I was so shocked when i saw it and felt even more close to the main character . I wonder if others shared the same sentiment? I hope they bring back THERESIA AND HOTEL DUSK

But here it is, more beautiful than ever, proving that something miracles do happen ❤❤❤ I just hope that this remake will rekindle interest in the series, so that we may finally get a continuation to the Wii game’s unresolved story.

Trace Memory will always hold a special place in my heart as the game that got me into visual novels. It was one of the first two games I ever bought when the DS first came out and I fell in love with it and the genre as a whole. The DS actually has a really nice library of Visual Novels and adventure games. Try checking out titles like Time Hollow, Lux-Pain, and Theresia as perfect examples of that. You also have Hotel Dusk, Secret of Cape West, and Again by Cing, the makers of Trace Memory, and of course the first four Ace Attorney and Professor Layton games.

I went on a ds buying spree last year and got Hotel Dusk and the experience was surreal. Given that Another Code is coming back, I am hopeful that Hotel Dusk and its sequel (which never got an NA release) will also be back.

I watched the direct with some friends and seeing Ashley I legit started crying. I got this game from my dad when I was really young and had forgotten all about it until recently when he left me borrow all his games. The fact that it's actually getting a remake is amazing.

If Another Code and it’s sequel can get remastered, then this needs to happen with Hotel Dusk and it’s sequel as well.

this game was one of my favorites on the ds! it definitely sticks out in my mind alongside the ace attorney series, 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors, ghost trick... i never expected another code to come back, especially bc the developer no longer exists, but i guess miracles can still happen! the puzzles in the trailer seem to be different from the ones in the original, so im really excited to see this new interpretation!

I'll definitely give Another Code a shot. The reveal of the remakes really got me interested in this series.

Hey, Zion! Did you know that the European released of Trace Memory (Another Code) has a more mature localisation? Nintendo of America added wisecracking jokes to the dialog on their version of the translation. It might be worth tracking down a European copy, if you're going to replay it. Its great to see people excited for this series ✌️

To answer your second question first: I felt that way about TTYD, and when that remake was announced, I felt relief that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about it. But back to Another Code. Since I live in Europe, I actaully played both games, though very long ago. I remember thinking they weren't very good, but I think I played them wrong, as I never got the ghost's memory back. It will be interesting to play the remake, to see what I think of them now.

Another Code R is a much longer game. I hope you enjoy it.

I've never played Trace Memory/ Another Code but it's on my list. In fact it's my only January game that I want to get and the fact that it came out around the same time as Phoenix Wright is impressive given how popular it is among mystery fans

When I saw the announcement in the Direct, I had pretty much the same reaction Zion had. Another Code R was a game I always wanted to play but never got a chance to do so (lack of funds), so when I saw Ashley I was over the moon! And knowing I'm going to be able to play the first game as well is just the cherry of top of the cake. Really one of the highlights of the Direct!

i loved Trace Memory, I was crazy about visual novels back then. along with Hotel DusK (RIP Cing Studios) I hope these games get a renaissance

WAIT I REMEMBER THIS! I've had a single memory of this game stuck in my head since I was like 5 and barely understood it. I just accepted that I'd never learn what this game was, yet here it is. (The memory I've had was of the first combination lock)

This was a very heartwarming video. I would love to see some Trauma Centre/Trauma Team games brought back to life, or something new in the series. Very unlikely though. Lol

Now I want Hotel Dusk and its sequel (same developers as another code). My buddy imported me a UK copy of the sequel years ago. Its a crime it never came to the US.

1:55 Get an SD card, install Riivolution on it, and insert it into your Wii. That’s how I got Project Zero 4 to work on mine back in the day.

I was pleasantly surprised when the remakes for Live A Live and Ghost Trick were announced.

Now we may never get Mother 3 in the west but seeing a niche series like this return gives me hope maybe they will make an Earthbound remake.

This really was such a great surprise. It may have been my favorite moment of the Direct. It's one of those hidden gems that aren't known to a lot of people, so remaking it is wonderful. (And I'm so happy to see so many people come out and say that they were fans of this series!) The original game utilized the DS screen a lot, so I'm looking forward to how they change the puzzles around to fit Switch.

I was intrigued by Trace Memories back then, but never got around to play it. When I saw Recollections, I thought “Oh cool, might as well play it now”. I’m having a good time with it. I’m at chapter 7 on Another Code R

The little stylus nub on the original DS strap is an excellent way to play a few games. Metroid Prime Hunters and Starfox Command play much more intuitively with it!

This was the Direct highlight for me too. The Switch truly feels like the consolle of miracles (I mean, after Metroid Dread revival anything feels possible): I would have never guessed they would remake these games and what a remake! It's not just a graphics overhaul: the gameplay is very different, the presentation, the cutscenes and voice acting and the official Nintendo website even mentions new puzzles!

Got my copy pre ordered already, I love Cing's games even imported Last Window on the DS. Can't wait to play these Another Code remakes!

I had the *exact* same reaction. I never expected this but I LOVED Another Code: Two Memories on the DS. Maybe because I was a teenager, maybe because it was my first puzzle/novel game, but having gone back and played some, whilst I agree with everything you said in the video, it really did have some charm that I hope they keep in the remake :)

This, Layton, and Ghost Trick have been the biggest surprise announcements in years for me. I never thought I'd see those games back in the limelight. I'm really really hoping Kyle Hyde is next. Surely if they're reviving old DS gems he's next on the list.

Actually, if you think about it, there is a handful of games that both Nintendo and Sony, that still need to bring back some old games that need a remade, update or re-bring it out for today’s generation consoles. And for a real good reason, since I may mention it on another channel, that I would love to see Legend of Legaia and Legaia 2: Duel Saga, be brought, but in a updated remake/remaster of it. And reason why, it’s an old game that not too many remember or played it. Another game is, which I forgot the name of it, but the setting is set in a hotel location. Like mystery type game. So, that makes it three games they need to re-do in this day and age.

I also noticed that, maybe Nintendo, at the end of the Switch's lifecycle and having such a massive success, is trying to do fan service now bringing a lot of classic games as remakes o remasters, and there are a few that I would love to have a comeback, although one that I love and actually have it on Gamecube is Eternal Darkness, but one that I'm curious about because I never played it was Geist, also for GC.

As a fan of the 2005 release of Trace Memory. I'm buying this game both physical and digital. Ever since Cing filed for bankrupcty I was so upset. I'm glad attention is being brought back to such a great game.

I wish Konami would remake Lost in Blue. So much potential that game has, especially after the golden era of survival games last decade, japanese style survival game would fit in a niche nicely imo.

The pixel art and pre-rendered backgrounds of the original is gorgeous, so in preparation for the remake I definitely highly recommend that you go back and (re)play it.

The kids who grew up playing these games now work at Nintendo and have decision making clout. That probably played a big role. It’s been 20 years. That’s enough time.

I still desperately want them to make a remaster or remake of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. I love that game dearly

I always wanted to give this series a try, but when I found out the Wii sequel was not meking it to the west I pushed it off and forgot about it. Stoked to pick this up in 2024! I feel you with the keep the hope alive (looking at you Star Fox)

Trace Memory was one of my favorite games on the DS. I beat it so many times. This remake was amazing! Never got to play Another Code: R, so experiencing a new story with Ashley was also great. Now we just need Ashley in Smash Bros! Also, Hotel Dusk and it's sequel should be next!

yeah i thought this was awesome to see these games revived. i only got the original a few years ago second hand and the sequel a couple of years ago. i have played thru the first one and finished it, but only a bit of the second game so far. would love to get to play these again :)

When studio Cing went Bankrupt, I thought it was the death of this series. I hope this means that Nintendo hasn't given up on making on the series and will make a new sequel.

I have been on cloud nine since they released the news, I didn't even dare to see the trailer. Hopefully the game gains some recognition and commercial success. It might not be our hidden gem anymore, but maybe it can convince Nintendo to release the third game. Whoever had the idea of releasing Another Code again might be blessed, please. 🙌🏼❤️ Hotel Dusk/Last Window remakes are probably on the table.

I actually screamed when I saw this come up 😭 Trace Memory was one of my most dearly remembered DS games, and I still remember the day I bought and finished it--I got every single puzzle on my first try, except for the close-the-DS one 😭 and I still love D haha SO excited to be able to play it again and finally play the sequel!!!

To play import games on Wii, you can use Gecko OS which is an application you can launch the import game from when using a homebrewed Wii. I use this to play US region games on my PAL Wii, namely Trauma Team. On topic, I love, love, love that Another Code: Recollection is coming. This was THE biggest surprise of the direct for me. I can't wait to see how this turns out!

I absolutely loved this game back on the DS I was both happy and excited for another code I mean I haven't played trace memory in so long and I couldn't be happier that it's getting a remake and it's pretty funny that Ashley is equipped with a switch this time around I already love it for those who haven't played trace memory in any form you're in for a fun time 😁

YESS it was one of the first games I played on the DS (the fat one). Terrified me as a kid but it also intrigued me cause the story

The return of Another Code is something I never would have thought, it's such a niche game and as far as I know sold very poorly, the company that made these Games, CING, went bankrupt shortly after the release of Another Code R, so it's even weirder to bring back a game that likely caused the shutdown of a company. But I'm really happy about it. I actually first played Another Code R on the Wii as kid long before the first one, which was not that easy to track down a copy of. Since CING doesn't exist anymore, I wonder who is making this remake?

I cannot wait I am hoping that we can a remake of the original Professor Layton and Yo Kai Watch 4.

Another Code returning feels like it came out of a fever dream. We can only hope that Nintendo will give the same treatment for the Kyle Hyde dulogy from the same devs.

I played Hotel Dusk on DS back when it was released in 2007. I loved it and looked into other games by the developer, Cing, and learned about Trace Memory. I never got the chance to play it, and I'm really excited for this remake on Switch!

I can't remember well....but I remember playing an awesome and heartbreaking surgery game on the Wii and it had an awesome story of you being the surgeon. I can't remember it, but it was also a series on DS and Wii. I miss it, but also forgot it's title. 😂 (Another series that I loved seeing was the Zero Escape series, would be great to see another entry but for switch, or a remastered 1st)

Trace Memory remains one of my absolute favorite DS games ( alongside both Kyle Hyde games, Hotel Dusk & Last Window...here's hoping they get remade next ), so I was just as hyped for Another Code Recollection as I am for the Mario RPG & Thousand Year Door remakes. Still wish they'd localize Buddy Mission Bond though....

I’ve never played trace memory/another code, and from what I’ve seen. It looks really interesting and it’s definitely on my wish list of Nintendo Switch games and one game. I would love for Nintendo to bring backmia Wario Land.

This just shows me how badly Nintendo messed up with the Wii U. The combination of GamePad and main TV made the Wii U ideal for DS remakes and I find the Switch has to make sacrifices that detract from the overall product. I'm happy to see this now, but imagine if these had shown up on the Wii U.

Modern 2023 Nintendo of America sticking the finger at Reggie lately. Gives me hope that we'll see a Hotel Dusk and Cape West duology in the future. Another game I would LOVE to see, since Nintendo is really buddy buddy with Monolith Soft lately is Disaster: Day of Crisis. Give us all the weird PAL games that Reggie thought the West were too cool/stupid to understand.

I used to wrap the stylus portion of the lanyard strap around my left thumb and use it as an impromptu analog stick for playing Mario 64 DS.

I have them both but I will buy them again as they got me into puzzle adventure story games and they was fun.

I've never played the sequel but I did buy another code at launch on the DS. It was a great game, good story line, inventive puzzles that really utilised the DS and it looked great too. The music was also good and built a lot of tension too.

I love hotel dusk and the second game i hope they make a remake of this.
