Last year, we were able to capture a heartbreaking and inspirational story of Ji-Hwan, who, despite his own financial struggles raising his daughter on his own, was running an organization to help other single fathers in Korea. If you haven’t seen that video yet, you should watch it first to understand the context ► • Being a Single Father ...
He really wanted to see us again and show us how he used the money to help fellow single fathers. If you still want to donate, you can visit his crowdfunding page here
►give.asia/campaign/asian-boss...
He also wanted to throw a surprise event for one of his single father contacts, so we went to see him.
We want to thank Bae Jin-Soo for sharing his story and wish him all the best for him and his daughter Surin. If you want to share your own heartwarming stories in a super positive & informative online community, you should check out our new community app called Mogao. It’s a community full of supportive, intellectual curious individuals from all over the world. Download our app here:

The dark side that isn't presented is the aspect of human trafficking. Rather the system present their reasoning as we think 'good society members' need to be raised by two parents. That if you don't have enough money you shouldn't raise a child. They are litteraly trying to prevent poor people to procreate. It's a mindset where they try to eliminate poverty but that's impossible since everyone can land in this situation. No identity to your kid if you don't have money to sue and pove your case. No identity = no health insurance = no daycare = no (steady) job because someone needs to stay with your baby. Give up the baby or you'll both starve. The result is that they create an extreme poverty situation and make it worse for them. One has to wonder if it isn't the point. Because as a result is alot of poor people abandoning their children, which the state put up for adoption internationally. Alot of those end up in the USA. Since the government makes alot of money out of it, South Korea litteraly is creating a system to oppress their own poor or vulnerable people. South Korea litteraly sells it's poor children, they are one of the biggest in worldwide adoption industry. They even make seminary's, and tourists trips with briefings, tours and DNA tests when those kids are older and come to Korea to meet their parents. They seem all welcoming and fast to acknowledge their identity then, which seem to be impossible when it came to recognize them at birth. Profiting from them to the last cent. You should see the documentaries or self filing journey's of those kids. They just think their parents had it hard because they were poor and just gave them up. They understand but at the same they know that we're they live poor people mostly raise their kids so they have mixed feelings or are even a little bitter and a bit distant/can't relate to them. And Jesus the parents keep crying, some even passing out, which is something Korean/even Asian adults culturally don't do in front of people. They are just devastated. Of course the fact that they have litteraly been strong armed to do so, isn't mentioned in the little flyers or the orchestrated 'welcome trips' the Korean government makes. And why would they suspect anything, clearly it's really easy to obtain administrative help from the government, they are being so helpful, right ? Imagine living though all this pain and difficulty, thinking it's because society is indifferent to you and fighting thinking if awareness is raised your situation might change. But then realising the system that the government put in place is working fine at what it's designed to do. It would be interesting if Asian boss did a documentary on those kids stories. And asked them if some did some research beyond their identity on their parents situation and they way the legal system worked in Korea ? Some went with the government trips and others did it all on their own do they get access to other information ? Best of luck to all your future projects, your platform is what media really should be 👍🏽👏🏽

@Juliana Silva oh god. I don't even know where to start. First of all, mother's Day isn't the same day in every country (are you from the usa, It sounds like something obnoxious enough that an American would say). So if it's mother's Day in yours right now it doesn't make it some universal reality. Secondly what does that have to do with anything ? They are a culture media platform. They make subjects using their contacts with people and several of their people are on different projects. It so happens that everyone was available or the guy contacted them to do a follow up on that story. They aren't a huge media channel with enormous budget who would litteraly go wherever, whenever. Also the irony that you complain about mother's Day not being used as a subject is funny since a big media channel would do it for solely for commercial reasons. 'wait it's mother's Day in XX country take XX budget and make something about it people will eat it up !' Lastly upon seeing your post history you seem to be a middle aged American woman who probably has kids or someone who really wants to be one. Simply put, not everything has to be about you Karen.

In a country which changed its laws to encourage citizens to adopt orphaned children and provide support to those families adopting those children, how is it that they can't prevent orphaned children by registering every single child at birth no matter if there are 2 parents to sign or 1. Even that small change in law could provide support to single parents who want to raise their children. No child should be orphaned because its parent was forced to give them up against their will. Just because a family only has one parent doesn't mean it can't be a good family and having one loving parent is better than being orphaned into a system in a society where adoption is culturally frowned upon. If there is one parent who can love and care for a child then that parent should be able to get support for that child. That child's birth should be registered. It should be a citizen of that country. Eventually the goal is for reunification between South Korea and North Korea. If they can't seem to register a single child's birth easily with or without 2 parents how are they going to make citizens of 24 million North Koreans. Shouldn't a child born in South Korea get as much concern from the government to be a citizen than 24 million North Koreans?

And that he has proper living conditions, to offer her. And he`s got that now! His rent is paid for a whole year, so he can get back on his feet again. And he`s even got a lawyer. Which is amazing!! I`m very hopeful for them both now. I hope we can have a follow up on them in a year or so maybe. :-)

Be wise we dont know her side. It might seem like poor dad but then once you reach that lady and find out why she ran away and what shes been doing. It could be a whole other storyline from what you thought. I'm sure he is honest and lovely to his baby. Just saying. It would be unjust to let it go without following the proper channels. And possibly it could get revoked down the line if you dont follow the steps.

Single dads def. deserve acknowledgement. I was raised in this type of household. My dad did everything and was always there for me. I turned out well due to his great parenting. @No Means No Most hospitals have a welfare system that can help with these things if you end up in the ER. They are also extremely flexible with payment plans. I ended up dying with a gall bladder infection that I'd refused to go to a doctor for the pain of because I couldn't afford it. Emergency surgery and all the associated costs ended up at $40,000. They were able to get that bill down to $5000. The emergency room is expensive but, there are options.

No happy day to them as FATHERS. They are males not females so they are not mothers, and should be recognized as they truly are. A wide misconception is that To care for your own child is MOTHERly thing, No. If it takes a male and female to create this human, then it should be BOTH of them to take responsibility of growing them mentally, physically and emotionally. Of course some partners either die or simply bail out from this responsibility, hence it's left on these single parents to carry the whole night, so happy day to them.

@tarin tarin i partially agree, single fathers are small in number than single mothers. But raising kids isn't a woman's job really, No. That's not normal. That's what society normalize in general, so the men can bail out from taking responsibility of their children and the women gets the blame for raising them, if they do not become what society aspires, wrong. That's why i give my props to these fathers whether they are single mothers or fathers to raise a kid alone is goddman hectic. Kids are a pain in the ass tbh, or at least for me, lol, which is why if you're going to give them recognition, you should give the recognition of they are, not as if they stole someone's else's job

This video broke through a lot of stereotypes about parenting and loving and compassion and kindness between men. Thank you Asian Boss.

Discovering this video after a year and a half, crying 😭 my eyes out and almost chock on my food (was having lunch at work) when they told him they had paid the rent for a year…my heart couldn’t take so much happiness to see the weight lifting from this man’s shoulders. What an act of generosity! I really pray 🙏🏻 he was able to get back on his feet and provide for his daughter and himself. Thank you for helping others single fathers, so many out there and many people don’t realize. ✨❤️❤️❤️✨

I burst into tears when this man learned that apartment is fully paid for 1 year. As a parent I realized that I would never make it by myself. My wife is a trooper. I love her and my baby girl ❤️. Props to Asian Boss for inspiration.

It sucks that whenever people cry, we still feel the need to ask them to “stop” crying. It’s okay to have an emotion, tears are not harmful. I take it as part of compliment whenever some people are willing to cry in front of me, it means that they feel okay to be vulnerable. I’d usually stay quietly, and offer them my shoulder or ears when they need. And if they want me to leave them, I will too.. whatever makes them comfortable. Better shed some tears than bottle every feeling in, it’s healthier than hiding true emotions. What’s not healthy is taking it out on anyone when we have strong emotions, anger, frustration, disappointment etc...

I absolutely love how humble and generous Mr Ji-Hwan is despite the circumstances. He is such a great man and father! 👏 Im truly thankful to be able to see how our donations are helping those in needs and given back to those beautiful people! 💜 I am definitely not the wealthiest person to donate here yet every single time I do, I am grateful, I can. Thank you for making us a bit more human by offering us this amazing chance to pay it forward. 🤲🤲🤲

I actually watched Jin-Hwan's video recently leading me with his heartbreaking story to donate. I'm so happy to see how all that money donated by so many people is getting used in this way. Hope all goes well for Surin and her father. Thank you Asian Boss for this video.
