My parents only have one that we gave as a fathers day gift, it says "a fisherman lives here with his lifes best catch". It's a little corny but I think it's kinda sweet. My mum's over 60 and dad's over 70 and they're still very much in love!

Yep, they have been very popular for at least 10-15 years here in Norway. I would say they were probably at their peak around 2010. The trend seems to have started to go down a bit recently, thank goodness!

I'm assuming the last census they did showed that not many 50+ women watch them. 😜 I am a 50ish mom who loves them and thankfully have no signs like those, but have to admit to having a 2 inch ceramic pumpkin, that has the words Hello Autumn, with a gnome lying on the top of the pumpkin. I wonder what Link would say about that?

5:20 same rhett. i think it’s because it’s both an instruction (which immediately could be seen as the motivational message creator looking down on you), toxic positivity and apathetic in some cases (such as ‘just smile!’ as if that’s gonna make you feel better if you’ve been having a really hard day). the creator’s hearts are in the right place, but it’s usually the execution that’s flawed and leads to hostile reactions

we have one of those signs in our bathroom. it says "I AIM TO KEEP THIS BATHROOM CLEAN. YOUR AIM WILL HELP." it's pretty funny, considering she put it in the bathroom in order to stop my dad from dribbling on the floor in front of the toilet. LOL.

I’m really glad Link sung the tune to chocolate rain bc I wasn’t watching when Rhett was reading the last sign but when he said chocolate wine I thought the sign said chocolate rain and he was just saying it in an accent 😂 then I was thinking… why would I think that? And I think it’s bc I wouldn’t be surprised if some middle aged mom had a chocolate rain motivational sign bc they’re trying to be in tune with the “trends” on KZfaq kinda like the Alexa one 😂😂

I have only 2 types of these things and they were both gifts of how these 2 people felt about me as a mom and looking at them they do give me confidence that there r other people (outside our home) that see me as a great mom 😊 even tho I know they r absolutely cheesy they still make me happy, which I guess is totally Mom of me lol

I feel like if it's for you to look at and makes you feel good, and doesn't preach at other people coming into your house, there's nothing wrong with it. But then, I am a mom. I personally prefer to have pictures rather than words on my walls, but I've put up a couple gifted plaques before.

i justify the signs all over my house because I am a stay at home mom of 4 homeschooled kids...my signs are "courage above fear"...."be the reason someone smiles today"...."dont be afraid to be great"....the complete periodic table...and many many more. My kitchen is filled with various coffee signs because being a stay at home mom of 4 kids... i have to have something to keep me going lol

I can kinda understand the 8 words sign (yes it irritates me too that it says words instead of phrases 😅) if it was in a mom's house with young kids. It's kind of like in school they have all these rules/motivations plastered in classrooms. I think it does set an expectation /tone for kids if you're trying to establish a way of behaviour (alongside parenting ofcourse) idk maybe I'm wrong just a thought.

I have one on my wall that says “this is us our life. Our story. Our home.” And it’s surrounded by frames of photos of our children, our siblings etc. it’s just a focal point to draw guests eye to the wall of photos though. But then again, it was a gift so 🤷🏻‍♀️

BTW, between the wars, there was a fashion trend of these decorations too. They were embroidered and put on the kitchen walls. They all carry that message about family bliss. They were really nice and even today some people collect them. I can talk only for Slovakia but I am sure it was a trend all over, at least, Central Europe.
