Smash is well known for its cinematic, over-the-top reveals for new characters that are to be released. Naturally, though, some reveals are DEFINITELY better than others. We gathered our SMASH PROS and asked them to rate EVERY TRAILER from best to worst.

Yeah when maximillian dood did his trailer thing like this he said it was one of the best trailer because hes such a big fighting game person and the care that went into Terry's trailer. I personally dont play many fighting games but even I'll admit the trailer was sick just because of how clear it was with how much love went into it. Like you could tell that trailer was basically saying hey fighting game fans this one's for you

I think the trailer does only one thing well and it is references to the game, but it fails at every other aspect of a good trailer which makes it the third worst one for me (after byleth and pyra). Primarily, it is super long and boring, and you either had no idea of who it was or have seen the speculations and knew it was terry the frame the NEOGEO appeared. Pacing is a super important part of a trailer. Secondly, it just do not feel like a samsh announcement. What makes a lot of smash announcement so entertaining is to see the character interact and fight. like seeing kirby and luma, falcon vs lucina, sora shaking hand with mario or sephiroth killing everyone, it helps making the character blend more naturally into the roster. There was no character interaction or any action scene in terry's trailer, it was just uneventful. Lastly, the trailer is just really badly looking. It is the smallest issue, it is an artstyle and I respect it but the CGI trailer look so good it is glaring.

I don't think these guys are really 'gamers' though. Their gaming knowledge outside of Smash is very limited and they don't understand why many of these trailers are as hype as they are.

The thing about SNK/Fatal Fury is they don't have one single main character/mascot. Terry is one of the more recognizable characters but not the main one especially in recent years. Even after it was leaked that it was a SNK character it realistically could've been like 10-15 characters. Kyo, Mai (at the time at least), Iori, Geese, Rock, Haohmaru, Nakaruru, and Athena could all have equally have been the pick over Terry until the literal moment that he grabbed that invite even with the leak and I love it.

21:41 what wadi says there is actually a LIE On January, 12th, 2021 in the tournament Mega Smash Mondays Online #37 Wadi lost to Cirno, a widely known wifi terry player. This set infamously created a clip where Cirno did 6 down airs in a row as a "ledgetrap" when wadi was on ledge

Most of the DLC trailers felt so good for fans of that character, especially Terry with all the characters or Sephiroth just looking sick, but damn Banjo really got K Rool 2 as his trailer.

Terrys Trailer is too low, him being in the Game is not too obvious, also Fatal Fury is a fucking 30 year old game and it's crazy that Terry'd appear in smash of all places and It's neatly put together with bunch of Easter eggs. easy pogchamp

Also, adding Terry meant that Sakurai also made the first Capcom vs SNK in just shy of 20 years. And then hed go on to later beat that with Kazuya, finally making Bandai Namco finally release Tekken x Street Fighter, at least in spirit lol.

If we're not doing season 2, I consider Terry's trailer the best one... If you know all those franchises? If you're like me and know a lot of video games? That one was just godlike. I thought it was gonna be haomaru, then rimaruru. it just kept going. I didn't think Terry was obvious at all. Samsho just got a new game.

All the characters/monsters made for Dragon Quest were designed by Toriyama , Esam. He’s been with the series since game 1. The one you were calling Toriyama is from DQ3. No spoilers lol

LOL at Mars Reactions on the Terry Trailer. It was a legacy style trailer my guy. If you know SNK, you was probably losing your mind on who would get in. Iori getting in Smash WOULD be top tier, NO damn questions about since he's top tier in every game he's been in for almost 30 years. This man has options for everything, but of course they had to go with the Mascot, Terry. Look at any KOF tournament of any game of the series and you see dozens of Iori players. Geese is damn crazy too, but Iori is too damn cool. Sakurai even mentioned he's pretty much a Iori Main.

I would agree with Sora but Steve was completely random. I think you are talking about how hype the characters were rather than if their actual reavel was cool. I personally do not like Steve inclusion in the game but even then, Hero is my least favourite character in smash but I think his reveal is one of the best. Steve's announcement was just nothing special, the cinematic was super short and most of it was just mario on a black background, steve doesn't do anything in it, there is no fighting, no character interaction, no reference to the game, no impressive CGI, no memorable location, it is just forgettable and if it was, let's say, hollow knight everyone would notice how bad it is.
